It’s an exciting time for travelers and locals, as Tulum will be welcoming a brand new luxury chain into the heart of the town, and it’s not only a hotel but also a property with resident townhouses for anyone thinking about making the big move to Tulum.
Mondrian Tulum Hotel & Residences has announced that it will be set to open its doors in 2025.
While there is no confirmed date, it is known that it will be the second Mondrian to arrive in Mexico, with the first one being the Mondrian in Mexico City.
Ennismore, the luxury lifestyle and hospitality company that has had the pleasure of announcing the arrival of the Mondrian Tulum, has had a statement from their COO: “Following the successful opening of Mondrian Mexico City, we’re excited to open our second home in Mexico. Tulum is a vibrant and bohemian-chic town which fits perfectly with Mondrian’s ethos of creating a cultural fairytale with unique design and stand-out programming whilst building a community amongst our fans.”
A Hotel And Also A Residents Property, How Does This Work?
This property will boast an impressive 64 guestrooms for you to choose from and not one but four restaurants (including a destination restaurant, a specialty rooftop bar, a chilled lounge, plus a pool bar & grill).
If you are staying at the hotel and fancy having a lazy day around the hotel area, it has several amenities for you to choose from.
For example, you can enjoy relaxing in their spa area, perhaps spend a couple of hours in the fitness center, or you can even take a dip in their outdoor pool.

As well as the hotel, this property will be offering 151 units for residents, ranging from 3-bedroom townhouses to a 4-bedroom Casa VIP.
The Mondrian Tulum residents will benefit from all the hotel’s wellness facilities, including the pools and yoga area.
It really seems as if the brand is catering to not only tourists but also locals, digital nomads, or even people looking to move permanently into the area.
What Do We Know About Mondrian?
Mondrian hotels are typically always in the middle of some of the most exciting cultural scenes in the world, immaculately delivering innovation, creativity, and a forward-thinking approach to hospitality.
The Mondrian hotels themselves really play with perspective and immerse every guest and local in the culture of whichever city the hotel is located in.
They are renowned for having an eye for detail and a super forward-thinking visionary – all about pushing limits and being ultra-modern.
Where Abouts In Tulum Will Mondrian Be Located?
Mondrian Tulum will be in Tulum, Riviera Maya, in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico, located around 118km southwest of Cancun’s International Airport – which will be around a 1 hour and 45-minute drive.
The hotel is going to be in a really great spot, conveniently situated just off Coba Avenue, which connects the hustle and bustle of downtown Tulum to the vibrant and lively chic nightclubs and beach clubs of Tulum Beach, less than 2km from the hotel.
Tulum is known for originally being a super chilled bohemian vibe fishing town, with independent boutique hotels right on the beach, including some pretty impressive local and international restaurants, with a general chic and hippy ambiance, making it a really perfect spot for Mondrian to co-exist.
Tulum’s tourism industry is booming, and with the upcoming Maya Train due for the end of the year, more visitors will mean more demand for accommodation, and it seems like Mondrian has found the perfect location for their next venture, slap bang between the beach and the town.
Meaning guests and residents can enjoy being equidistant from both the laid back and bustle of downtown to the chic and opulent area of the beach, not to mention great transport links on Coba Avenue – you can be on your way to any of the local or further afield attractions in a heartbeat.
