2 Popular Xcaret Parks Near Cancun Temporarily Closed

Grupo Xcaret operates nine parks and several different tours in the Mexican Caribbean, which are popular with tourists.

The company also has three hotels in the region, and guests of the hotels get included admission into all of the theme and adventure parks.

Two of those popular Xcaret parks near Cancun are now temporarily closed, though.

Read on to find out which ones will be closed for a while and which ones you can still visit when you vacation in Cancun.

The Temporary Closing Of Xavage And Xenses Insomnia

Xcaret recently announced that it would temporarily close its Xavage Park, which is an adventure park located in Puerto Morelos, for an undisclosed period of time.

The park is known mostly for its exciting zip lines, white water rafting, and monster truck riding.

Additionally, Xcaret is suspending its nighttime Xenses experience, Xenses Insomnia until summer 2025.

Reason For Closures

The reasoning behind the temporary closings of the parks is different for each.

In the case of Xavage, the company announced that “Xavage park will pause its operation from November 12 in order to redesign the experience according to the changes in preferences.”

When it comes to Xenses Insomnia, it’s more about a decline in visitors that the company has been seeing recently, so it will close until next summer.

The Xenses Park will remain open for daytime activities, operating from 8:30 am – 6:00 pm daily.

Grupo Xcaret’s Place In The Mexican Caribbean

Grupo Xcaret was developed after an architect bought a 12-plus acre plot of land and decided to turn it into a massive park where people could enjoy the stunning nature of the region.

The park, Xcaret, opened in December of 1990 and quickly became one of the most popular attractions in the Mexican Caribbean.

The next park, Xel-Ha, opened in 1994 and five more followed over the years, the most recent being constructed in 2019, which was Xavage.

Other Xcaret Parks To Visit

In addition to the aforementioned parks – Xcaret, Xel-Ha, and Xavage – there are six other Xcaret parks in the Mexican Caribbean.

Those parks are Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xoximilco, Xenses, Xenses Insomnia, and Xenotes.

Other than Xavage and Xenses Insomnia, all other Xcaret parks are still currently operating.

Xcaret’s Recent Expansion Announcement

The temporary closing of these two popular Xcaret parks comes as a bit of a surprise because the company just recently announced a huge expansion of its Hotel Xcaret Mexico.

The massive new expansion will reportedly include 1,800 rooms distributed between 10 “houses,” 16 pools, 30 restaurants, and a 24-hour movie theater.

The project is expected to begin in the near future.

Xcaret Hotels In The Mexican Caribbean

As mentioned, there are three Xcaret hotels in the Mexican Caribbean.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico is a family-friendly hotel, while Hotel Xcaret Arte is designed for ages 16 and older, both are located in Playa del Carmen.

The company’s third hotel, La Casa De La Playa, is an adult-only boutique-style hotel.

Xcaret Hotels All-Fun Inclusive Amenity

The rates for Xcaret hotels are pretty high, ranging from $1,224 to $2,183 a night, depending on the hotel, which you can book here.

The bonus, though, is that when you stay at an Xcaret hotel, admission to all of Xcaret’s parks and transportation to the parks are included in the price.

Entertainment, activities, dining, and drinks are all included as well, making Xcaret hotels a pretty good value for the money, but for now, you just won’t be able to visit Xavage or Xenses Insomnia when you stay.

Including the parks is a must for Xcaret, but even so, $1300 a night is not great value. You can only eat and drink so much to remain healthy. Milking the tourists will reduce the number of tourists in these areas. You can do much more for $1300+ a night than one night and one park and food and drinks. We will skip it and go elsewhere.
