After a nice long day soaking up the Mexican Caribbean sun on the laid back beaches of Tulum, what better way to switch up the vibes to get your party on then by visiting one of the best bars or nightclubs in the area? Here are 5 upbeat and well loved places in Tulum for you and your friends to let loose at – with a couple of helpful tips along the way.
Tulum is home to some pretty awesome nightlife and instead of stepping on each other’s toes, the top 5 nightclubs take turns hosting the biggest parties in town 6 days a week.
Tuesdays & Wednesdays: Batey Mojito & Guarapo Bar
Thursdays: Casa Jaguar
Fridays: Gitano
Saturdays: Papaya Playa Project
Sundays: Salsa Night at La Zebra Hotel
After dancing the night away, you’re eventually going to have to pay the bill. There are a couple of things to keep in mind.
1. Don’t forget to tip: First, check your bill (“La cuenta”) to see if there is a charge that says “propina” (tip/gratuity). If it does, the tip has been included on your bill. If not, the standard rate for tipping here is about 10-15%.
2. Please pay in Pesos: Most bars in Tulum are actually cash only – even the high end ones. Most of them accept American dollars however, when you pay in Pesos not only do you typically get the best rate – but you take away a potential currency exchange fee at the bank for the company or your server. If a bar happens to accept credit cards, you can expect to pay a 3% surcharge.
