The director of Cancun Civil Protection, Antonio Riveroll Ribbón, expanded on the structural layout of the city’s beach staff plans, stating that they have added an additional 24 lifeguards to the city’s 11 beaches to ensure safety to all beach loving tourists this season.

“For example Playa Langosta, which is 500 meters long, is one beach where we must reinforce with more lifeguards, unlike El Mirador, which is smaller and only 100 meters long. Caracol is another, 100 meters long, but it is a rocky area, while Gaviota Azul has a lot of waves,” stated Ribbón.

Ribbón further clarified beach layouts and safety procedures to newly incoming visitors. “What we recommend is that people pay attention to the flags. The green means it is safe to swim, the yellow means to swim with caution and the red flag means no swimming,” stated Ribbón, clarifying that lifeguards will be on duty on Cancun beaches from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily.
