As the world continues to operate amidst the global pandemic, tourism economies across the globe have been devastated due to stricter travel procedures and entry requirements.
Despite the current circumstances, Cancun continues to generate large rates of tourism in comparison to other internationally popular tourist cities. Here is why.
Climate and Infrastructure
Known for its ideal climate all year round, Cancun offers warm temperatures and sunny beaches for its visitors to join in all their favorite outdoor activities amidst the city’s fresh breezes.
Located on one of the most eastern points of Mexico, the city runs along the Caribbean Sea. It is essentially a purpose-built resort comprising white sandy beaches, skyscraper-shaped hotels, and lively atmospheres.
Cancun is home to ancient Mayan ruins on its borders. Overall, the city’s attractions and climate can distinguish it from other areas.
International Connectivity
Cancun has recently expanded its availability for flights and departures. Now, after Mexico re-enabled flight operations to and from many countries across Europe, countries such as Portugal and Spain have access to flying to Mexico’s renowned city. The city also maintains frequent networks with U.S. cities.
Relaxed Entry Requirements
Traveling protocols in Mexico are much more lenient in comparison to other countries. Visitors are not required to provide a negative PCR test or quarantine upon arrival. However, Cancun hotels are offering free or special fee covid testing to incoming visitors if they choose.
Visitors can also request rapid covid testing directly at the Cancun International Airport, although they are not obligated to do so.
When heading back to the country of origin following vacation in Cancun, the city has facilitated free testing sites at resorts and hotels to accommodate tourists.
As for COVID-19 health and safety, Cancun is doing well as more vaccines have recently arrived in Mexico and are being allocated throughout the country.
The overall state of Quintana Roo continues to maintain lower COVID-19 cases in comparison to its Mexican counterparts including Mexico City, Querétaro, Guerrero, Coahuila, State of Mexico, and many others places in the country.
