The beaches of Cancun are breathtaking, known for their soft white sand and sparkling aqua blue, crystal-clear waters.
It is these beaches that draw millions of tourists to the destination every year, and why more than 40 percent of the American travelers that visited Mexico last year flocked to Cancun.
Cancun has great connectivity with the U.S., and now Americans can fly direct to Cancun from Tampa, FL, adding another city to the long list of cities with direct flights to the destination.
From Tampa To Cancun With Frontier Airlines
The direct flights that are now available from Tampa to Cancun are provided by the low-cost airline, Frontier Airlines.
It is not the first time the airline has offered flights between the two destinations.
The service is a resumption of flights that were previously offered by the airline.
The first time Frontier launched flights between the two cities was in May of 2022.
The New Frontier Tampa To Cancun Flights
Flights between Tampa and Cancun are available four days a week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
Each day, the airline will operate one flight each way, between around 6:00 and 7:00 am departing from Tampa, and between around 8:30 and 9:30 am departing from Cancun.
The flight takes just approximately two hours each way.
Sample Tickets Prices For The New Route
Frontier is known for being an ultra-low-cost airline, and the tickets for flights between Tampa and Cancun are super affordable.
The prices do vary based on the day of the week you want to fly each way.
Booking a roundtrip ticket departing from Tampa on a Monday or Wednesday starts as low as $223, departing on Friday it starts at around $303, and departing on a Saturday, tickets start at about $342.
All sample prices are for dates in July.
Frontier’s Other Direct Flights To Cancun From The U.S.
Frontier flies nonstop to Cancun from a total of 13 U.S. cities.
Seven of these routes are offered year-round, while six of the routes are only offered on a seasonal basis.
The Tampa flights will be offered year-round.
The other cities that Frontier flies direct to Tampa from are:
- Atlanta (ATL)
- Chicago (ORD)
- Cincinnati (CVG)
- Cleveland (CLE)
- Dallas Fort-Worth (DFW)
- Denver (DEN)
- Houston (IAH)
- Kansas City (MCI)
- Miami (MIA)
- Orlando (MCO)
- Philadelphia (PHL)
- St. Louis (STL)
Other Airlines That Fly Nonstop To Cancun From Tampa
Currently, there is only one other airline that offers flights between Tampa and Cancun.
Also a low-cost airline, JetBlue’s flights to Cancun from Tampa are affordable, but not as cheap as those of Frontier.
Flying JetBlue roundtrip, nonstop between the two destinations, starts at around $289 and goes up to around $900, but flights are available every day of the week and operate year-round.
Cancun’s Overall Connectivity With The U.S.
Cancun has great connectivity with the U.S. in general.
Direct flights are available to the destination from 41 U.S. airports.
A total of 12 airlines offer these flights, with Southwest and American Airlines offering the most, each with 18 routes between various U.S. cities and Cancun.

Cancun continues to gain popularity and one of the reasons for that is the new option for visiting beyond Cancun.
