The iconic restaurant Hard Rock Cafe Cancun reopened its doors with a renewed image in Plaza Forum, in the heart of the nightclub area of the leading tourist destination in Mexico and Latin America. It will generate more than 600 direct and indirect jobs in Cancun.
For years, the emblematic restaurant has represented one of the best offers for tourists for being a unique and successful brand since it opened. It was also one of the restaurant establishments that generated more added value to Cancun. With an investment of 750,000 dollars and close to 100 direct jobs, the Hard Rock Café reopens as an iconic restaurant in the hotel zone after the closure due to the pandemic that put a pause to their operations. And now, once again, they have reopened it.
Javier Espinoza Castillo, Director of Operations of the U.S. company, said that it reopens, generating more than 100 direct jobs and more than 500 indirect jobs due to alliances with local suppliers, “helping maintain the economy that we need so much in Cancun.”
The investment was minimal compared to if a new establishment had been opened, he commented: “We had chairs, tables, equipment, but it was mostly structural and relative … compared to a new one, the investment amounted to about 750,000 dollars.”
Espinoza Castillo indicated two other projects for the Mexican Caribbean, which he did not go into detail, but stated that “We are projecting to grow.” They have other locations in Cancun, Cozumel (in front of the international pier) and Playa del Carmen (5th Avenue), with two little shops, one in Playa del Carmen (next to the ferry), and the other in the center of the island.
The reopening of one of the most iconic gastronomic venues in Cancun could not have come at a better time: the Hard Rock brand celebrates 50 years. During this time, it has always stood out for its memorabilia of artists who have made the brand live for half a century. The restaurant, whose gigantic guitar still stands, is located in the Cancun nightclub area, in the heart of the Hotel Zone.
“We have a Paul McCartney guitar; Kiss’ shirts, guitars from the band The Eagles; we also have contemporary artists, like Beyoncé’s guitar; a shirt by Maroon Five and also from Latin artists, with a guitar from El Tri, signed by Alex Lora, Maná, Juanes, among other artists.”
Javier Espinoza announced that on March 1, they will present the hamburger named after Leonel Messi (Messi Burger), an Argentine soccer player with whom an alliance was signed. It will be presented to start the brand’s 50th-anniversary celebration. During the year, there will be various activities to celebrate half a century of presence in Mexico, based on its slogans, Love All-Serve All, Take Time To Be Kind, Save The Planet, and All Is One, and charity events.
“Throughout the year, there will be various events. This February, we will do a “Rock for a Cause,” and we are searching for a foundation to contribute to. We are going to have an event featuring the best of Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, and AC / DC music, on February 25, as well as a specially designed menu for Quintana Roo local citizens, who just need to show local ID and will have access to a lower cost dining option.
Visitors will be able to dine in paradise at Hard Rock Cafe Cancun, located in one of Cancun’s most vibrant areas in the Forum by the Sea. This convenient location in a shopping mall offers beach access while remaining just minutes from the city’s nightlife.
The Hard Rock founders, Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton, were two Americans who brought together American food and rock ‘n’ roll in London, the heart of the world’s music scene, in 1971. They wanted a cafe that embraced everyone, whatever their background, to unify a world where “bankers did not hang out with bakers.” When the Seminole Tribe of Florida acquired Hard Rock in 2007, two great cultures were joined. Today the brand includes cafés, hotels, and casinos to pursue an unlimited future for Hard Rock, one of the world’s growing and best-regarded consumer brands.
