Mexican travel company Global Expedition have just announced the launch of their new luxury brand in Cancun, titled ‘The Yacht Senses’. This new venture offers clients sunset cruises along Cancun’s oceanfront, with a panoramic view of the Mexican Caribbean’s world-famous sunset. The project was introduced to patrons at the Renaissance Cancun Resort & Marina hotel, where a two million dollar investment in the yachts was confirmed.
The two luxury boats, titled Triton and Proteus, boast a variety of unique features not seen on other voyages departing from Cancun: primarily, the yachts are equipped with state-of-the-art navigation systems designed to situate guests in the best position for a 360-degree view of Cancun’s stunning sunset. This will present guests with a truly unique and intimate experience of one of Quintana Roo’s most sought-after views.
Both ships are equipped with a Skyhook digital anchor system, to prevent the boats from rocking during each voyage. The boats are also programmed with a Seakeeper system, which makes use of smart technology that automatically gages the active state of the sea, reacting instantaneously if there is an issue. This ensures the safety of each and every guest on all sailings.
Guests onboard are also invited to experience the culinary delights of famed Cancun chef Octavio Santiago: to celebrate the launch of the new yachts, Santiago has developed a four-course menu of dishes inspired by ingredients from the land and the ocean in Cancun. The menu will consist of sumptuous traditional Mexican cuisine, as well as a fusion of international dishes. Santiago’s team also has a clear focus on sustainability, as all of the meals onboard are created with ingredients found local to Cancun and Quintana Roo.
Global Expedition’s aim of increasing a guest’s sensory experience whilst onboard is emphasized through the aromatherapy services available. As scientists have found that certain smells are able to release specific memories, the boats will contain aromatherapy stations to ensure guests associate particular scents with their time at sea.
Guests are also treated to a specialised music service whilst onboard the vessels. Global Expedition has stated the importance of creating a unique sensory experience for each of its guests, which sets it apart from other luxury sailings. When guests are on board either vessel, they have the opportunity to select a special playlist to compliment each course as it is being served. Guests also have the opportunity to play their own music on board.
To complement the food, music and aromas on the yachts, Global Expedition has spared no expense in the interior design of both vessels. Each boat proudly displays works of art by renowned Mexican sculptors, Rodrigo de la Sierra and Jorge Marin, to ensure that guests are able to sample some of Mexico’s finest works whilst at sea.
A press release from Global Expedition revealed the importance of creating a positive sensory experience for guests onboard:
“Each detail of the boats was taken care of under the advice of hospitality professionals, as well as an interior designer, to provide top quality fabrics and materials to ensure the care of each guest”.
As Cancun receives the most international tourists in the whole of Mexico, it can be hard to find a truly unique and exclusive experience that most travellers have not done before. With as many as 51 million tourists set to visit Cancun this summer, several of the city’s most popular attractions are almost fully booked. As the Yacht Senses launches this week, travellers are advised to book as soon as possible on Global Expedition’s website before this exclusive experience sells out.
