The Importance Of Dia De Los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos, also known as the Day of the Dead, takes place close to Halloween in America, but the Mexican holiday is much more significant.

It is a day for the remembrance of those who have passed on.

The living celebrate it to honor loved ones who are no longer with them.

When Is The Day Of The Dead?

The Day of the Dead takes place over two days, November 1st and 2nd.

On these days, it is believed that the spirits of those who have moved on return to spend the day with their loved ones.

Though it takes place over two days, the holiday is typically celebrated for several days before as well.

There are several different ways in which the holiday is celebrated.

Celebrations may include preparing traditional food and beverages, having gatherings, and decorating with calaveras, which are the skulls commonly seen.

It’s also common for surviving loved ones to prepare altars with candles, flowers, and pictures of deceased loved ones.
