All thanks to Viva Airlines, Wanderlusts departing from Colombia (Cali) will finally have a budget-friendly direct flight option to Cancun. This schedule is set to start in March 2022.
As of March 22, 2022, the Colombian airline, Viva will have 3 weekly budget-friendly direct flights to Cancun. These flights will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and they will be the first international flights from the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport of its kind.
Felix Antelo, The President & CEO of Grupo Viva said recently in an interview, “Cali is an essential part of the Viva destination network and our commitment to this city is strong; that is why we add to our offer these two new direct international routes to Mexico City and Cancun, which expands connectivity from Cali to two destinations that since their opening in August have been very well received by Colombian travelers who now know that with Viva they can travel internationally at super low cost.”
With the almost 35% reduction in market rates and the well-recognized ‘Viva Effect’, Viva is expecting approximately 50,000 passengers on each route during the first year. These flights will also help maintain the strong commitment between the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport and Viva airlines moving forward.
Viva has announced a total of 65 new approved flights. Camilo Pabón Almanza, The Minister of Transportation recently expressed these new realms of possibility for air transportation to find reasonable means of transportation.
“The authorized routes will offer a new range of possibilities for air transport users to find more alternatives within the market, provide more connection points inside and outside the country and ratify the national government’s commitment to supporting the economic reactivation of the sectors derived from the air activity, which has already reached 20 million passengers and is expected to reach 30 million by the end of 2021.” She said.
In addition to the 3 weekly flights to Cancun, Viva will also be offering 3 weekly direct flights to Mexico City. These flights will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting in March 2022.
Other new route destinations include connecting Bogota with New York, San Juan de Puerto Rico, Baltimore, Tampa Bay, Houston, Miami, Chicago, Washington, and Boston. As well as connecting Colombia (Cali) with Orlando and Miami.
Having a budget-friendly option to travel across the world to get to a far-away tropical destination is an absolute blessing for travelers to have in order to help re-ignite traveling again after being cooped up in our homes the last year or so due to the global pandemic.
Cancun and all of Mexico are eager and excited to welcome Viva air passengers early next year.
