By the following year, Cancun was already welcoming approximately 100,000 visitors.
Fast forward to last year, and more than 30 million tourists visited the destination, many of whom were American tourists.
Now, the U.S. has more nonstop flights than ever to Cancun as the destination continues to skyrocket in popularity.

How Hospitality In Cancun Is Keeping Up With The Demand
Despite the fact that Cancun is continuing to grow in popularity at such a fast rate, the hospitality industry is having no trouble keeping up with the demand.
Just over the last couple of years, more than 10 new hotels have opened in the vacation destination, bringing the total number of hotel rooms in the city to more than 40,000.
There are numerous hotels currently under construction or planned for the next couple of years too.
Why Cancun Is So Popular
Not only does Cancun have amazing Caribbean beaches, but a diverse selection of activities to enjoy in and around the vacation destination too.
The entire Riviera Maya region is filled with Mayan ruins, jungle adventures, underground rivers, and natural swimming holes.
Add to that the vast selection of amazing all-inclusives, and you have a hugely attractive vacation destination for travelers from all over the world.
Best Time To Visit Cancun
Cancun is popular year-round, but the warm winters are especially attractive to American tourists, so this is one of the busiest times of the year.
Spring break, between March and April, is super busy too, so if you’re looking for a quiet Cancun vacation, these are not the seasons to visit.
But if you’re looking to escape the cold, it is the perfect time for a Cancun vacation.
Getting From The Airport To Your Hotel
There are just as many options for getting from the airport to the Hotel Zone as there are to get to Cancun.
As with any major tourist destination, there are taxis, Uber, public transportation, and private transfer services.
Taxis are known for being overpriced, so many travelers opt for private transportation services.
