Spring and summer are the most popular seasons to visit Cancun and millions of tourists do, but there are three really good reasons to visit Cancun in October instead. During the busy months, hotels are nearly fully occupied almost all of the time and this year has been the busiest yet. As the popularity of the destination continues to grow the city will be even more packed during these seasons and tourists may find it difficult to even reserve a hotel stay.
While spring and summer are great times to vacation in the Mexican Caribbean vacation destination, that doesn’t mean that fall is a bad time to go. Depending on what you do on your Cancun vacations, quite the opposite is true. Consider the following three great reasons to visit in October instead, before finalizing your vacation plans.
Weather
Temperatures in Cancun are generally mild throughout the year, rarely dipping below an 80-degree high even on the “coldest” day of the year, but October is nearly perfect, hovering around 81-85 degrees on most days. There is also less cloud cover and rain in October, as it is the start of the decline of the rainy season in that part of the peninsula. The combination makes for some fantastic beach days, while the evenings are perfect for dining al fresco at one of Cancun’s charming waterfront restaurants. Puerto Madero, Tora, Cenacolo, and Lorenzillo’s are just a few of the many great choices in seaside eateries that visitors have.
Cost
Since October is typically looked at as a slower month for travel to Cancun, travelers can expect their trip to cost less as well. In regards to hotels, October is one of the cheapest months of the year, with some of the smaller 4-star and above hotels coming in at less than $100 a night. Additionally, round trip, non-stop airline tickets flying out of multiple cities can be found for less than $200 for some dates. This means the cost of flight and hotel for a five-night trip can be as low as around $1,000 with taxes and fees included.
Crowds
Finally, the biggest benefit of visiting Cancun in October is the fewer crowds. While there will still be tourists, both international and national, the busiest season is well over by October. Beaches, restaurants, hotels, and other attractions will all be less crowded, giving visitors more opportunities to explore everything from the most popular restaurants to the most exciting adventures.
There are many great reasons to visit Cancun. World-class resorts, amazing dining options, unique shopping opportunities, and a long, rich history to explore all make it an unbelievable vacation destination. And those that visit in October, or one of the other slower months during the year, will have easier access to all the city and surrounding area has to offer.
Part of the joy of travel is meeting new people from all over the world but there is something to be said for a quiet, peaceful, relaxing vacation as well. It gives travelers the chance to see more of a city, at a time when the locals are able to take a little breather following the busy summer.
Those who visit during this time have a better chance of striking up a conversation with someone who knows and loves the city they come from, resulting in a travel experience hard to come by during busier times.
