Thanks to United Airlines, the first of many direct flights from Los Angeles to Cozumel has recently landed on the island.
On Saturday May 8th 2021 Cozumel International Airport received the first flight of United Airlines passengers flying direct from Los Angeles to Cozumel, This will be a regular scheduled flight moving forward.
Mayor Elías Farah Ceh is thrilled with this new flight because it will open up so many doors for american tourists to come back and enjoy what this beautiful island has to offer. “With Los Angeles Airport being a highly accessible international hub for travellers, Our connection with this city and new flight schedule significantly increases how accessible we are for travelers.” Farah Ceh explained.
Farah Ceh hopes that this will also help reconnect Cozumel with other international destinations. “The Los Angeles International Airport operates more than 800 flights to over 30 countries on a weekly basis, meaning international tourists from places like Asia might have an easier way to get here.” he added.
This new flight will be scheduled on a weekly basis. Every Saturday at 9:00am United Airlines will be departing Los Angeles and arriving in Cozumel at an estimated time of 3:40pm. After unloading passengers, refuelling and executing cleaning protocols the return flight back to the United States will commence. The returning flight leaving Cozumel has a scheduled departure of 4:50pm and a scheduled arrival time in Los Angeles at 7:50pm local time.
United Airlines plans to operate this weekly flight schedule until October 2021 but could easily adjust its schedule to work with the ongoing changing conditions of the global Covid-19 pandemic.
Cozumel now has a total of four dependable direct flights out of the United States through United Airlines. One daily flight from Houston, One weekly flight from Chicago, Four weekly flights from Denver and now one weekly flight from Los Angeles. This is exciting news for travelers worldwide.
