One of the biggest claims to fame in Isla Mujeres is the island’s stunning white sand beaches spanning the aqua-blue coast.
The location of the island makes it one of the best places to go to escape the pesky sargassum seaweed that is known to plague the Mexican Caribbean during the spring and summer months.
Isla Mujeres’ most popular beach is North Beach, also known as Playa Norte, which has been ranked one of the best beaches in the world.

One of the perks of visiting a destination surrounded by water is that you can expect some pretty fresh seafood and there are plenty of places to enjoy it around the island.
There are also plenty of authentic Mexican eateries in Isla Mujeres, consisting of restaurants serving the classics, and food trucks offering quick eats as well.
You’ll also find high-end, fine dining restaurants in the luxury all-inclusives, but to truly experience the authenticity of the island, the smaller, locally owned restaurants are where it’s at.

There is so much more to do in Isla Mujeres than you would expect from such a small island.

Staying In Isla Mujeres
Since Isla Mujeres has become more and more popular, the number of hotels and other accommodations on the island has grown considerably, and there are all kinds of options.
There is everything from hostels to boutique hotels and villas to all-inclusives on the island.
But Isla Mujeres is by no means a cheap destination, despite its quaintness and simplicity.

Getting To Isla Mujeres
To get to Isla Mujeres you’ll fly into Cancun Airport.
From there you can take a taxi or private transportation to the Ultramar Ferry dock.
The ferry ride from there takes about 15 minutes and costs about $12 each way.
The ferry operates from 5:00 in the morning until 9:30 at night.

Boat Tours To Isla Mujeres
If you just want to visit Isla Mujeres for a day while staying in Cancun you also have the option of taking a boat tour to the island.
These tours start at around $45 and can go up to hundreds depending on what the tour includes.
But even at the entry-level price, you can get a tour that includes snorkeling, lunch, and open bar, which is a great way to experience a day trip to Isla Mujeres.
