The tourist section of Cancun is called the Zona Hotelera, or the Hotel Zone. A 7-mile long purpose-made peninsula of white sand beaches and turquoise ocean entices tourists from all over the world to vacation here. But choosing between the best resorts in the ‘Cancun 7’ – so-called for its figure 7 shape – can be a daunting task.

Hyatt Ziva Cancun
On arrival, the entrance lobby is spacious and inviting, with neutral, warm decor. Rooms are located across three buildings, the Pyramid (where standard, ocean-view, and swim-up suites are located), the Club Tower (where Club rooms are found), and Turquoize (an adults-only extra luxury section of the hotel).
This impressive resort has two beaches – one facing east, another west. There are also three infinity pools if that’s more your scene. There are plenty of dining options too, with Mercado offering the classic buffet setting as well as theme nights, a fun diner-style option at Chevy’s, Italian cuisine at Lorenzo’s, and steakhouse at Tradewinds, plus a French bistro, teppanyaki, as well as a delicious Mexican taqueria.

Grand Fiesta Americana Coral Beach Cancun
Every room enjoys an ocean view at the Grand Fiesta American Coral Beach Cancun, which is perfect given the resort’s location on one of the prettiest of Cancun’s beaches.

Hotel Riu Palace Las Americas
Cancun has several Riu brand hotels (and will soon have more) but Palace Las Americas is one of the best. It’s an Adults-Only experience here with the 24-hour all-inclusive service making for a truly pampered vacation.
There are 350-rooms ranging from tasteful and well-equipped Junior Suites, right up to the largest suites with sea views, some of which also offer jacuzzis. The 3 pools are inviting, with the largest leading the way to the resort’s own beach, which is sheltered and infinitely swimmable.
The entertainment at the Riu Palace Las Americas is varied, with guests able to try a variety of watersports like kayaking or scuba diving. If relaxing is more your speed, try the Renova Spa, which offers the whole gamut of treatments, or if you want to party the night away, this resort also boasts its own nightclub.

Temptation Cancun Resort
Temptation Cancun is a brightly-colored slice of fun, located at the western end of the Cancun 7. Touting itself as a ‘playground for grown-ups’, this is firmly aimed at the 21-plus market, offering topless-optional areas and an atmosphere of freedom and open-mindedness.
The 462-rooms are splashed with color and filled with curvaceous furniture, creating a sensual atmosphere befitting this resort. There are multiple pools, including the ‘sexy pool’ where guests can experience sensual playtimes, as well as full bar service.
Dining-wise, you can expect to find all the classic all-inclusive options, including Mexican, Italian, buffet, and seafood. What Temptation offers in addition is a dedicated aphrodisiac dining experience called ‘She’.
