As the summer season starts to turn to fall and you begin reaching for your cozy sweater pile, chances are you’re starting to day dream about those magical days on a tropical beach with your favorite people too!

The Riviera Maya is home to some of the most outstanding beaches on the globe. Wanderlusts from far and wide travel here to feel the pristine white sand between their toes and the radiant sun on their faces. Here are 5 of the most loved beaches in the region for you to check out on your next Mexican Caribbean vacation.

Puerto Morelos Beach

One of the most famous locations in Quintana Roo is Puerto Morelos. This incredibly charming village is a former fishing village and not only does it have beaches straight out of your dreams – it has Puerto Morelos Reef National Park, which is part of the second largest coral barrier reef in the whole wide world. In other words – don’t forget your flippers and goggles and be sure to go for a little swim to check things under water! Located only 34 minutes from Cancun.

Address: Puerto Morelos, Rafael E. Melgar 104, 77580 Puerto Morelos, Q.R., Mexico

Sian Ka’an Nature Reserve

Away from the hustle and bustle, the Sian Ka’an Nature Reserve is pretty untouched by man and typically less busy then other beaches in the region. Sian Ka’an translates to “gate of heaven”, and the Ancient Maya considered this territory “the sky’s beginning”. It has been known to live up to its name and reputation – The unspoiled beaches, jungles and mangroves soothe your soul and give you the perfect environment to both explore and relax in peace.

Playa Paraiso – Tulum

Located just below the historical Mayan ruins in Tulum, Playa Paraiso has a very different vibe to it and is without a doubt one of the most breathtaking beaches in the Mexican Caribbean. The impeccable white sand beach and insane clarity of the water is enough to take your breath away. Combine that with the significance of the ancient land and possibly even a really wicked sunset, and you’ve got yourself a beautiful experience bound to burn into your memory bank forever!

Holbox a.k.a Flamingo Paradise

If you travel little north of the Yucatan Peninsula you will find yourself heading towards the marvelous island of Holbox. The island is part of the Yum Balam Nature Reserve with waters barely even 3 feet deep (Perfect for those long, romantic sun rise or sunset walks!). This somewhat secret place is well loved for the wildlife – don’t be surprised if you see sea turtles, flamingos and an array of tropical fish.

Playa Norte – Isla Mujeres

When you close your eyes and imagine a picture perfect Mexican Caribbean beach, chances are you’re envisioning what Playa Norte in Isla Mujeres is like. The sparkling white sand and the blindingly blue crystal-clear waters will stop you in your tracks in absolute awe! If you’re ever in the area, do yourself the favor and spend some quality time on this beach – you won’t regret it! Book yourself a sunset dinner at one of the beach front restaurants and prepare to be amazed.
