There are hundreds of restaurants to choose from in Cancun, and a good portion of them serve Mexican food, but you only have so much time on vacation, so to make it easier to pick the best ones we’ve compiled a list of 5 restaurants that have more than 1,000 five-star reviews on TripAdvisor. Many discerning travelers use TripAdvisor to make decisions on dining, hotels, and activities on their vacations. This is because customer reviews are one of the best ways to gauge how good a restaurant is, and when they have hundreds and hundreds of great reviews it’s a good indication that that restaurant is doing something right.
It could be a certain special dish, it might be the ambiance, maybe they serve a great selection of wines or spirits, or, in many cases, it is a combination of a number of these things that make some restaurants so special. Whatever the reason, one thing is for sure, and that is that most travelers like to eat well on vacation. And when vacationing in Cancun it only makes sense to try some delicious authentic Mexican food while visiting and the following 5 restaurants are a great place to start.
- RosaNegra Cancun – RosaNegra is not just a place to dine but an experience all its own, with live music, shows, sunset celebrations, and waterfront dining from 1 pm – 3 am every day, but the food alone is worth a visit. The restaurant prides itself on using the freshest ingredients that are brought in from their original countries every day and they serve Kobe Beef. In addition to serving some of the best beef in the world, you will find a wind range of tacos that are anything but the usual, with fillings like baked short rib, langosta, king and soft-shell crab, and duck.
- Senor Frog’s Cancun – Senor Frog’s is a bit of a touristy place but that doesn’t mean they don’t have good food and the atmosphere is great for vacationers too. Located conveniently right in the Hotel Zone, it is the perfect place to get the party started, with live entertainment and the usual Mexican dishes as well as some other international foods. But while it is a Mexican restaurant it is more about the mood here, which is totally laid-back and fun from 11 am until 1 am every day.
- La Buena Barra Mexican Steakhouse – Located right near the Nichupte Lagoon, not only does La Buena Barra have a unique menu, but it is in a unique location with great views as well. On the menu you will find a more elaborate Mexican cuisine with dishes like Mexican caviar on marrow bones, a New York Kobe taco, charcoal octopus, and barbeque flank steak. The restaurant, which has indoor and outdoor seating, opens every day at 1 pm and has live music Tuesday through Sunday starting at 7 pm.
- El Granero Grill Steak & Lobster House – Located in the Cancun Hotel Zone and open from 12 pm – 1 am every day, El Granero Grill is not your average steak house. Almost every day you will find drink specials, and visitors say the food portions are huge. The spacious restaurant has a fun vibe, with a DJ on some nights, and offers both indoor and outdoor seating where guests can enjoy steak, seafood, and more.
There are plenty of restaurants in Cancun and sometimes you may opt for something more casual. But when you’re looking for an experience each of these restaurants has that according to more than a thousand TripAdvisor users. More importantly, they also have delicious Mexican food that is much different than what you will find at home.
Cancun is an exciting place to visit for many reasons and one of them is the large number of restaurants serving all different types of food. But when visiting Mexico, it is a must to try Mexican food, and these restaurants will give you exactly what you’re looking for.
