There’s a dizzying array of destinations to visit in the world. So why do so many of us choose to spend our vacations in Cancun over and over again? There must be something special about a place that attracts so many loyal visitors.
Here are six reasons why we believe Cancun is the best vacation spot of all.
1. Weather
For those of us who live in less than tropical climes, vacationing where you know the weather’s great all year round (albeit with a possible shower or two) is a powerful incentive to visit.
With annual temperatures averaging a balmy 80 degrees, whenever you visit Cancun, you’ll be able to hang out at the beach, enjoy your resort’s swim-up bar, and dine outside in your flimsiest summer clothing.
Cancun also averages between 8 and 11 hours of sun each day – perfect to make the most of those lazy vacation days by the pool.

There are few places that can compete with Cancun’s impressive selection of resorts. And the fact they’re pretty much all in the same beachfront strip of the peninsula – called the Hotel Zone, or Zona Hotelera – means that whichever resort you choose, you’ll have easy access to bars, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife.

From one of the designated Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza, to Tulum’s beautiful beachfront ruins, Quintana Roo is blessed with a staggering amount of history and well-preserved Mayan architecture.

5. Beaches
Cancun’s resorts are built along a 14-mile stretch of peninsula and coast, and while the beaches do vary, they all have in common incredible beauty, turquoise ocean, and fine, white sand.

6. Cuisine
The resorts of Cancun have upped their game when it comes to providing guests with high-quality dining options. Most have a wide variety of cuisines on offer in-resort, but Cancun is also known for having a great – and growing – dining scene to explore.
Street food is always popular and offers fantastic value for money. Fine dining options are also popping up, and there are ever-increasing numbers of talented homegrown chefs shaking up the food scene in Cancun ready for visitors to enjoy.
