Given the increasing number of visitors that are entering Mexico’s tourist hotspot this Easter break, new health protocols are being implemented in Cancun, including the placement of extra sanitary filters around the city.

New Health Protocols Set Up For Tourists Visiting Cancun

Sanitary filters provide a simple yet effective check-up for individuals passing by the specific area. Pedestrians circulating the streets will be expected to undergo a quick temperature check and potential rapid testing to ensure individuals diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus are not roaming outside unaware.

Masks and antibacterial gel will also be provided at the sanitary filters to assist tourists with proper health and safety measures while promoting COVID-19 rules and regulations.

Approximately 635,000 visitors are anticipated to visit Cancun and the Riviera Maya during the Easter holidays. In regards to this, the set up of additional sanitary filters in and around tourist areas in the city that feature high levels of occupancy will help ensure minimal infection rates within the area.

The overall objective of the new sanitary filters is to provide safe spaces in tourist designated areas. The filters reduce the chances of infections between individuals and minimize mobility.

Governor Carlos Joaquín says that the sanitary filters are being set up in an attempt to help access geographic spaces in critical areas of massive concentration during the holiday season. Some filters have already been placed around Cancun.
