Cancun Hotels Filling Up Fast As Low Seasons Ends

Last Updated

After giving themselves a quick breather after the record-breaking summer they just experienced, hotels are already seeing occupancy levels rise in Cancun as the winter high season approaches.

Last weekend alone saw more than 69,397 visitors arrive at the all-time favorite destination, an increase of 2.4% compared to the same period last year.

Bernardo Cueto Riestra, the Secretary of Tourism in Quintana Roo, has high hopes for the winter season, as bookings and reservations are already suggesting that it will be another record-breaking year, surpassing the previous two.

With the arrival of the long-awaited Maya Train and the opening of a brand-new airport in Tulum, connectivity is better than ever to the region. However, Cancun seems to reign supreme as the destination that everyone wants to go to.

Cancun Connectivity

Cancun International Airport is currently the most popular airport in Mexico, seeing more than 1,507 operations in the past three days between national and international arrivals and departures.

Many of these flights come from the United States and Canada, with a total of 38 U.S. cities and 21 Canadian cities flying directly to the sun-soaked destination.

The new Maya train will enable even more visitors to come to Cancun, with the first route being inaugurated on December 15th, with hopes of connecting even more tourists who might not want to spend their entire vacation there but could happily visit while passing through.

While the new Tulum airport is expected to take off some of the heat when the Mexican Caribbean becomes inundated with eager vacationers, Cancun International Airport will remain the popular tourist base, with popular operators such as American Airlines announcing their increasing of flights on some existing routes, as well as introducing new ones.

Luxury Hotel Bookings

One such area in particular that is also seeing a boom in popularity is the current trend of luxury, all-inclusive hotels.

What was once a cookie-cutter experience for tourists has grown into something completely different, with each luxury hotel resort offering a unique and special experience for its guests.

The convenience of these impressive hotels is tenfold: unlimited food and drink included in booking prices, endless activities and areas to appease every type of person, from exclusive restaurants and dining to numerous pools and bars, and even luxury spa and treatment centers (not forgetting the around the clock security and surveillance).

Tourists from the United States in particular seem to be picking this option as their main choice, and it is no wonder that many well-known hotel companies are expanding and renovating their options to meet the needs of their guests.

Award Winning Beaches

Of course, one of the main reasons why hotel bookings are filling up fast in Cancun is due to every tourist’s desire to escape the cold of winter and swap it for a picture-perfect paradise.

That is exactly on offer right here, with Cancun’s beaches boasting a total of 43 Blue Flag awards given to beaches that adhere to strict environmental, educational, safety, and accessibility standards.

With sargassum plaguing the Mexican Caribbean once again this year, Cancun seems to be one of the places that has been cleared of the smelly seaweed before anywhere else.

Not only are they currently free from sargassum, but also from cigarette butts, after being banned at the beginning of the year, keeping the public spaces free from unpleasant tobacco residue.

With security levels also increased this summer in order to maintain peace and protection of both tourists and locals, the beaches in Cancun are now considered some of the safest in the entire region.

And so with Cancun becoming easier than ever to travel to, as well as seeing hotel infrastructure booming with the luxury all-inclusive trend and award-winning beaches around every single corner, it is no surprise that hotel reservations and bookings are already filling up for this winter season.
