With winter just around the corner, it’s no surprise that Cancun is already expecting a record-breaking high season.
As always, the number one destination this winter for many people is Cancun, which has had an earth-shatteringly good year in the tourism sector and expects to see that success take them into the new year without a hitch.
Javier Aranda Perero, director of the Tourism Promotion Council of Quintana Roo, just recently announced that American Airlines, one of the most popular airlines running from the United States to Cancun, will increase to 40 daily from major cities around the U.S.

Not to bog your head down with numbers, but at the end of the year, there are over 34 million scheduled to arrive in Mexico via international routes, with Cancun International Airport being placed as the number one hotspot.
That staggering number comes as no surprise, as local authorities and governments have been working tirelessly to ensure that the Mexican Caribbean remains one of the top destinations for travelers looking to experience paradise.

Even if you once traveled to Cancun only a few years ago, the scope of just how much is on offer to tourists now, with the boom in luxury all-inclusive hotels, expansion of archeological and environmental sites, and increase in security and protection, has completely changed the landscape for the better and is a far cry from its underdeveloped, fishing village heritage.
Cancun International Airport is, without a doubt, the busiest airport in the region and came close to reaching capacity this summer.
This does not come without its challenges.
Busyness, overcrowding, and booking transport to and from the airport had been reportedly more difficult than usual.
Now with the introduction of a new airport in Tulum, which opens in December, some of the pressure is expected to be taken off Cancun International Airport and should make space for the increase in flights this winter.
Another huge airline, Delta, just recently announced it will begin running non-stop flights between the U.S. and Tulum in March 2024.
Not only will the introduction of another major airport help the overcrowding in Cancun, but another huge infrastructure project is expected to begin operations in December, giving tourists the chance to travel to the heart of Cancun via a new state-of-the-art mass public transit system.
The long-awaited Maya train will start operations on December 15th, 2023 with its inaugural route between Chiapas and Cancun.
This gives the opportunity for tourists to be able to experience hidden gems and popular sites near Cancun, with everything from traveling to the infamous Chichen Itza as well as various hugely popular cenotes and magical towns, all for a reasonable price, and no longer having to pay for taxi services and bus transports which can be on the pricier side.
The route also has a direct stop from Cancun International, meaning traveling to and from the popular airport will be easier than ever and again will take off the pressure of having to use other services which have been known for being challenging to book, due to the number of people arriving to the destination.
Though other areas within the region are also seeing spikes in popularity, such as Playa Del Carmen and Tulum, it is Cancun that remains the number one place for most Americans this year.
With the offer of stunning, sugary-white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, as well incredible accommodation options to choose from, whether it be a boutique hotel, stunning vacation rental or luxury all-inclusive resort, Cancun is a firm favorite among families who want to experience the safety and convenience of the location.
When booking a vacation to Cancun, most people already know what to expect; however, as it continues to grow massively, it might just be even better than you can imagine.
