There are three major travel themes that tourists are looking for when traveling internationally right now. They are nature, sustainability, and wellness.
A new wellness center will be opening in Costa Mujeres to cater to this important travel trend starting in January.
Costa Mujeres Wellness Destination
Delayed due to the pandemic, the highly anticipated seven-acre SHA Wellness Clinic is expected to open for travelers to the Mexican Caribbean at the start of the new year.
A $150 million project, the new clinic will be a luxury wellness travel destination for guests from all over the world, providing specialty medical care and high-end accommodations.
More than 100 suites are planned as part of the advanced wellness clinic project. Tourists being served at the clinic will also have the opportunity to stay at the nearby residences with service levels including deluxe, superior, grand, presidential, and for the ultra-posh, royal.
According to the company, the new wellness clinic in Costa Mujeres will combine the latest medical advances with dietary re-education and various natural therapies to improve and prolong the health of tourists.
The entire complex is located across from the popular Mexican Caribbean Island of Isla Mujeres and will feature a nearby cenote and about a kilometer of beach access for wellness travelers.
Award Winning Service to the Stars
The company behind the development of the brand-new SHA Wellness Clinic at Costa Mujeres has more than 15-years of experience in the wellness industry and is well known for catering to some of the top VIP guests and stars of television and movies.
The Spanish group that will own the project claims to have served well known celebrities such as Naomi Campbell, Kylie Minogue and Monica Belucci, in addition to heads of state and members of the royal families from around the world.
The new center in Costa Mujeres is patterned after the other facility located in El Albir in the province of Alicante, Spain.
The center in Spain was recognized with two prestigious awards in 2020 for catering to tourists – the Travel and Leisure Magazine World’s Best International Spa award and the Conde Nast Traveller Reader’s Choice Award for Best Destination Spa honor.
Connection to Nature
The entire new wellness center is being designed with a number of natural elements to connect tourists to sustainable wellness.
Lush gardens, organic elements, and natural settings will be part of the design for the new SHA Wellness Clinic. Interior finishes will include marble, Mexican ceramics, wicker or native fabrics with luxury design elements.
The idea is to limit the environmental impact of the new wellness center and leverage local materials to enhance the feeling of connection to the Mexican Caribbean and Costa Mujeres.
Changing Perception of Costa Mujeres
The new wellness clinic is just the latest evolution of Costa Mujeres, which is becoming better known as a luxury resort destination for upscale travelers to the Mexican Caribbean.
With shallow beaches and scenic viewpoints, the connection to wellness, sustainability, and nature themes of travelers is a perfect complement to the draw of tourism to the beach destination.
Tips For Travelers
Travelers seeking an opportunity to connect with nature while enjoying wellness opportunities with a focus on sustainability will find a new opportunity to consider when the SHA Wellness Clinic opens in Costa Mujeres in January of next year.
The entire center is focused on the important trends that travelers to the Mexican Caribbean have identified as important for their beach destination vacation getaway.
The new center is being developed as an all-in-one location providing luxury upscale services for destination travelers. It is located about 20 minutes away from Cancun International Airport.
