Authorities To Launch New Awareness Campaign Amid Rulebreaking
Tulum is quickly becoming one of the trendiest destinations in the Mexican Caribbean for historical and cultural travel.
In addition to its rich history, the coastal destination is also famous for its stunning nature, boasting everything from white-sand beaches to pristine national parks.
However, as Tulum’s popularity skyrockets, officials are concerned about some travelers’ unruly behavior.
From littering to damaging delicate historical artifacts, experts are now calling on visitors to behave responsibly when enjoying everything this unique destination has to offer.
This week, officials have begun reminding travelers of important rules and guidelines when visiting Tulum National Park, one of the city’s main attractions containing everything from Mayan temples to lush rainforests.
Certain restrictions apply when visiting the famous National Park, which are derived from the local government’s regulations.
The framework was updated this January, adding a number of new rules aimed at preserving the attractions’s unique value.
One of the main restrictions currently affecting visitors at the park is the prohibition on consuming outside food & drink items on the premises of the park.
However, with many travelers citing poor communication over the new restrictions, park officials have begun intensifying efforts to make the rules as clear as possible for all visitors.
Some travelers have also reported feeling frustrated over the new guidelines.
Tulum is one of the hottest destinations in the region, and most travelers are accustomed to bringing bottled water on their tours & excursions.
Meanwhile, experts are also warning travelers to pay attention to a number of other regulations, such as not disturbing local plant & animal wildlife.
Tulum is home to a vast range of biodiversity, which is increasingly overwhelmed by growing visitor numbers.
As a result, Tulum National Park has established walking paths & trails that travelers can freely use to explore the breathtaking national park.
While the park is more walkable than ever, it’s important to stick to official walking paths to avoid disturbing the area’s delicate ecosystem.
Tulum National Park Receives Huge Upgrade Thanks To Government Program
With Tulum increasingly on travelers’ radars, government officials have invested heavily in preserving the destination’s historical treasures.
This spring, travelers will be able to access two new temples – Nauyacas and Cresterías.
Experts are close to finishing renovations to allow travelers to access the temples, which have thus far remained off-limits to the general public.
The addition of the new temples means that Tulum National Park will become even more appealing to travelers, especially as visitor numbers continue to climb ahead of the launching of the Maya Train.
Tulum’s huge archeological zone is currently the most visited Mayan Site in the Mexican Caribbean, welcoming over 200,000 visitors during the first two months of the year alone.
