New Longest Bridge In Mexico Will Make It Easier For Cancun Tourists To Get To Hotel Zone

Last Updated

Cancun is an extremely popular and busy vacation destination, so it isn’t always easy to get around, especially during the high seasons.

A new bridge is being built, though, that will not only be the longest bridge in Mexico but will also make it easier for Cancun tourists to get to the Hotel Zone.

Read on to learn more about this major project, and how the bridge will benefit tourists.

The Nichupte Bridge

The bridge, which will cross the Nichupte Lagoon in Cancun, will cover a distance of more than five miles.

It will extend from the center of Cancun all the way to the famous Cancun Hotel Zone.

Not only will it be the longest bridge in Mexico, but the second longest in Latin America as a whole.

Why The Bridge Is Beneficial For Tourists

Cancun has a lot of traffic, so much so that there are often delays for visitors needing to get to and from the airport.

It’s even worse when things like taxi blockades take place, forcing tourists to sometimes have to leave more than four hours in advance of their takeoff time or even get out and walk to get to the airport on time.

The new bridge will give taxi and bus drivers, and private transportation providers another option for getting around traffic, hopefully allowing visitors to get to where they’re going much quicker.

When To Leave For The Airport When Your Cancun Vacation Is Over

Nobody wants their Cancun vacation to end, but you don’t want to miss your flight to return home, either.

Even on a good day for Cancun traffic, you’ll want to leave more than three hours ahead of your flight because international passengers are advised to be AT the airport three hours ahead of departure time.

At the very least you should expect the trip to the airport to take 20-30 minutes, just to be safe.

How To Get To And From Cancun Airport

You have several options for getting to Cancun Airport, but some are better than others.

Ubers are available in Cancun, but they are not allowed to operate on the airport property.

Taxis are a popular choice for first-time visitors because they can be hailed down upon arrival, but they can also be expensive, and you have to beware of pirate taxis.

The ADO bus is a cheap option, but they will only take you to the bus station, and then you’ll still need to book a taxi or Uber to get to your hotel.

Those who visit Cancun often tend to choose private transportation.

Private transportation can also be expensive, but it’s convenient because it can be booked in advance.

What You’ll Pay For Transportation To And From Cancun Airport

A taxi to and from Cancun Airport will cost at least $65 each way, and often even more.

An ADO bus, as mentioned, is the cheapest option, with a cost of just a few dollars each way.

Private transportation can cost as much as $100 or more each way, but many feel the convenience and the benefit of knowing the cost in advance is worth the extra expense.

Cancun’s Famous Hotel Zone

The Cancun Hotel Zone, also known as Zona Hotelera, is a 14-mile strip of land that sits between the Nichupte Lagoon and the Caribbean Sea.

The area is lined with luxury all-inclusive resorts, restaurants, attractions, beach clubs, and beaches.

Most travelers to Cancun stay in the Hotel Zone area, and if not, they visit the popular tourist hotspot, and this bridge will make getting there quicker and easier.
