There are many great reasons to visit Cancun, and you probably don’t need any more, but it doesn’t hurt to have even more reasons to visit the popular destination.
Everybody already knows that Cancun has amazing beaches and plenty of luxury hotels, but there are three new travel trends that are growing, according to Expedia and Hotels.com, that Cancun is perfect for too.
Read on to find out what they are, and why Cancun is the perfect destination to visit for these three emerging travel trends.
Growing Popularity Of All-Inclusives Among Gen Z
All-inclusive resorts used to have a bad reputation, mostly due to the mediocre food and the fact that they offered mostly not-so-exciting organized activities.
These days, though, all-inclusives are a far cry from what they used to be.
They treat guests to fine dining, top-shelf drinks, fun entertainment, and enjoyable activities.
This is why it’s no surprise that one of the emerging travel trends is the growing popularity of these all-inclusives among Gen Z travelers.
Gen Z travelers include those ranging in age from college age to the late 20s.
Cancun is the perfect destination for this trend because it has a huge inventory of all-inclusive resorts.
Exploring Less Popular Destinations
Another growing trend among travelers that has been steadily growing, and that Cancun is perfect for, is the trend of exploring less popular destinations.
More and more travelers are opting for lesser-known destinations, and Cancun is surrounded by them.
Some places in the region, like Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and Puerto Morelos have become pretty popular, but there are still plenty of little-known destinations to explore.
Some of those places are Bacalar, Holbox, and Valladolid, just to name a few.
Culinary Experiences
The other travel trend that is gaining traction is travelers seeking out unique and exciting culinary experiences.
Three restaurants near Cancun, two in Playa del Carmen and one in Puerto Morelos, just received a Michelin Star.
Additionally, you’ll find unique dining experiences in the region, like dining in a treetop nest in Tulum, or a dinner show at Xcaret and dining in a cave in Playa del Carmen.
Cancun’s Central Location
The biggest reason for Cancun being the perfect place for all of these trends is its central location.
Anything that Cancun doesn’t have, or once you’ve exhausted all of the options in Cancun, there’s plenty more nearby.
From luxury all-inclusives to lesser-known destinations to amazing culinary experiences, there is an endless supply of each in the region.
Cancun’s Extensive Connectivity
Another reason Cancun is the perfect destination for all of these trends is the fact that its airport has extensive connectivity around the world, especially with the United States and Canada.
Canadians can fly to the destination from a total of 21 different airports and Americans can fly to Cancun from 41 airports within the country.
Upon arriving at Cancun Airport, transportation is available to get to any of the destinations in the region.
The Introduction Of The Maya Train
The arrival of the Maya Train, which began partially operating in December of last year and has since nearly been completed, makes exploring Cancun and beyond even easier.
It departs directly from Cancun Airport and connects to the entire Yucatan Peninsula.
You can travel south to Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Tulum, and beyond, or you can travel west and visit destinations like Valladolid, Merida, and the Mayan archaeological site of Chichen Itza.
It’s affordable, it’s fast, and tickets can be booked online. The Maya Train is truly revolutionizing travel in the region, making it easier than ever to explore Cancun and beyond.
