Wyndham is a big name in the world of hotels. However, one thing missing from its hotel portfolio has been an All-Inclusive experience – until now, that is. Wyndham is launching Alltra, its new All-Inclusive brand, and excitingly, its first two properties are in the vacation hotspots of Cancun and Playa del Carmen.
During 2020, Wyndham boasted almost 9,000 properties worldwide, represented via its 21 well-known brands. Hotels in the Wyndham family include budget-friendly Super 8 and Days Inn to the more upscale Wyndham Grand and Registry Collection. Alltra is placing itself at the lucrative mid-range-meets-luxury end of the market, a position which is sure to attract visitors – and Wyndham will be hoping – many converts to the new brand.
Alltra is a partnership with Playa Hotels and Resorts, a company that has longstanding expertise in bringing All-Inclusive resorts to the market in the Mexican Caribbean. Bruce Wardinski, Chairman and CEO of Playa Hotels and Resorts sees Alltra as appealing to a new market, saying “Together, we are launching a new experience in the upper-midscale resort segment to reach more first-time all-inclusive guests.”
Alltra, which means ‘All-Inclusive Travel For All’, will offer both adults-only and family-oriented resorts as it grows its new brand, focusing on the popular Caribbean region.
So, on to the first two Wyndham Alltra resorts. Let’s find out what you can expect from this fledgling brand when it opens to visitors from 1 December this year.
Wyndham Alltra Cancun
Located in Cancun’s enviable Hotel Zone, the Wyndham Alltra Cancun resort will be a family-friendly place, with an emphasis firmly placed on fun. There’s a pirate-themed splash park and mini-golf course to keep kids big and small entertained. Teenagers – who are obviously far too cool to hang out with family on vacation – can instead use the #Hashtag hangout room. And adults in search of relaxation won’t be disappointed with the Aura Spa, which includes complimentary use of a full hydrotherapy circuit.
When it comes to accessing all the facilities Cancun has to offer, this hotel is extremely well-placed. Situated between Punta Cancun, the Hotel Zone’s main entertainment district, and La Isla, home to a popular shopping mall, El Rey Mayan ruins, and many other attractions, you really couldn’t hope to be closer to the action.
Back at the hotel, all of the 458 rooms have clean, modern lines, and range from standard suites right up to the stunning Junior Suites with beach access and infinity swim-ups. When it comes to dining, you’ll be spoiled with over ten bars and restaurants to choose from, including authentic Mexican cuisine at Casa de Rosa and Cafe Mexico, through Italian delights at Viaggio, and the more unusual Mongolian restaurant, El Sabor. There are plenty of bars to choose from too, with a favorite sure to be the Coral Reef Bar, which will feature daily live music.
Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen
Head down the stunning Mexican Caribbean coast from Cancun, and in around an hour, you’ll hit Playa del Carmen, the site of the second resort – Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen. In contrast to its Cancun cousin, this resort is an adults-only affair, which will appeal especially to couples.
Located right on the Playa del Carmen beach – home to many a beach club – you’ll be able to hear the waves lapping on the shore from your stylishly kitted-out room. There are 287 suites in total, all of them appealing, but the one-bed premium suite with oceanfront views, at over 1000 sq ft, does have a special feel. After a day of making the most of the beachfront swimming pools, sit and take in the sunset with a relaxing glass of wine on your private terrace or balcony,
Another particular highlight of this hotel is its proximity to everything that Quinta Avenida – or Fifth Avenue – has to offer. If you do decide to leave the resort, you’ll be right in the thick of things in minutes. Playa del Carmen is great for shopping, as well as nightlife, so you’ll never be short of things to do.
Make sure you try out as many of the hotel’s restaurants and bars as you can – there will be plenty to choose from. Sample sushi rolls at the rooftop Off the Hook restaurant-bar, or Brasas, a Mexican specialty restaurant offering a selection of exciting small plates. But if even heading to one of the resort restaurants seems like too much effort, you can treat yourself to the ultimate luxury – in-suite dining.
Conclusion
These new Alltra resorts are sure to be popular, so if you’d like to try them out for yourself, why not take advantage of their launch promotions, available from 1 December 2021 to 18 January 2022.
Oh, and if you’re struggling to decide whether Cancun or Playa del Carmen is the place for you, here are some great tips to help you decide.
