Cancun is going through some massive changes right now. Just when you thought the hotel scene was settling into a normal summer groove, another huge announcement just dropped. The hospitality landscape in the Mexican Caribbean is incredibly competitive, and mega-resorts are constantly shifting their strategies, management teams, and brand names to stand out from the crowd. If you are a loyal World of Hyatt member, or if you simply love keeping up with the biggest and best all-inclusive properties in the Hotel Zone, you are going to want to pay close attention to your upcoming bookings. A massive, highly popular adult-only property is abruptly leaving the Hyatt portfolio and getting a top-to-bottom rebrand.

The Breathless Cancun Soul Shakeup
The resort in question is the widely loved Breathless Cancun Soul Resort. If you have traveled to Cancun recently, you have likely seen it. This property has been a major staple for high-energy, adult-only vacations since the day it opened its doors. It sits right on the edge of the Hotel Zone, offering incredible, unobstructed views of both the brilliant blue ocean and the Nichupte Lagoon. With its two towering buildings connected by a sky bridge, incredible rooftop infinity pools, and a huge focus on trendy entertainment, it has been a massive hit for travelers who want a modern mix of daytime relaxation and upscale party vibes.

But soon, the property will shed the Breathless name completely. It is officially stepping away from the Hyatt Inclusive Collection, which means it will no longer be tied to the World of Hyatt loyalty program. The management is changing hands, and the entire identity of the resort is going to be transformed to match the vision of the new operators.
What To Expect From The Rebrand
The property is officially transitioning into the Amàre Cancun, Curio Collection by Hilton. Starting October 1, 2026, the resort will switch over to the Hilton portfolio and will continue to be operated as an upscale, adults-only, all-inclusive destination.
A hotel rebrand is never just a simple matter of swapping out the logo on the front sign and changing the color of the pool towels. It means a complete overhaul of the resort’s everyday identity and guest experience. The new management will bring in their own operational standards, which almost always includes totally revamped restaurant menus, completely different entertainment schedules, a new approach to nightlife, and an entirely new overall energy.

If you booked the Breathless experience specifically for their signature DJs, themed sunset parties, and specific high-end cocktail menus, you can expect the new brand to put its own unique spin on things. The physical buildings, the gorgeous rooms, and those amazing rooftop pools will obviously still be there, but the daily experience on the ground is going to feel different once the transition is complete.

Two Massive Departures In Two Weeks
If this news gives you a bit of deja vu, you are definitely not alone. That is because this is actually the second major Hyatt departure in the Cancun Hotel Zone in just a matter of days.
Last week, it was officially announced that the Hyatt Vivid Grand Island is also abruptly changing hands. Effective August 19, 2026, the Vivid Grand Island will completely exit the Hyatt umbrella. It will drop the Vivid name, leave the Inclusive Collection, and sever all ties with the loyalty program.
For a resort that was positioned as a major new flagship property for a brand-new concept, that sudden transition caught a lot of travelers totally off guard. Having two massive, high-profile properties drop their brand identity back-to-back is causing quite a stir in the local hospitality scene. It is rare to see two huge dominoes fall this close to each other.

What Happens To Your Upcoming Reservation?
This is the absolute most important question for anyone with a trip already on the calendar. If you are booked at the Breathless Cancun Soul or the Vivid Grand Island during or after these transition periods, take a deep breath. Your vacation is not canceled.
When massive resorts like this change hands, the new management team simply takes over the existing reservation books. Your room category, your travel dates, and your all-inclusive package rates are almost always honored exactly as you originally booked them. You will still have a beautiful room waiting for you when you arrive at the airport. You should keep a close eye on your email inbox, as the new management will likely reach out with an updated confirmation and details about the name change so you know exactly where to tell your driver to drop you off.

The Reality For Points Travelers
This is where things get a bit messy. If you paid for your stay using World of Hyatt points, or if you were counting on earning a massive chunk of points during your upcoming trip, you need to be proactive.
Usually, if a hotel leaves a loyalty program before you arrive, you will absolutely not earn points for that stay, even if you booked it while it was still a Hyatt property. If you booked an award stay using points, the new management generally honors the free nights, but you will not get any of your elite tier perks. That means no free room upgrades, no guaranteed late checkout, and no special welcome gifts. For frequent travelers, this is incredibly frustrating, especially if you booked the hotel specifically to maintain your elite status for the year. If this impacts your upcoming vacation, your best bet is to call customer service directly to see what your options are.
