In regards to accelerating the vaccination campaign, the state governor said: “To take care of those who work in the tourist industry of Quintana Roo, we are working in coordination with CONAGO, with the approval of the Ministry of Foreign Relations, to acquire vaccines.’’
Hotel chains and tourism businesses including restaurants and bars throughout the country will be obligated to assist their workers with the right amount of doses.
Around 20 million vaccines will be distributed throughout the country in states that have registered and exchanged certain resources.
“The first million and a half doses could be arriving between April and May,” stated Joaquin, noting that the plan is currently in the purchasing process.
The president of the Caribbean Business Coordinating Council (CCEC), Ivan Ferrat Mancera, said that one of the prime tourist locations, the Cancun Hotel, has already registered itself into the database, lining up to be one of the first places to vaccinate its employees.
For now, citizens are anticipating the state government’s purchase of vaccines, since once the vaccines have been purchased, tourist workers will have the surety of being among the first people to be vaccinated, in efforts to assure and raise confidence within tourists.
