The Mexican Caribbean is a popular destination for weddings for both the average person and for celebrities, so it’s no surprise that the American T.V. stars from the show Vanderpump Rules decided to tie the knot at Dreams Natura Resort & Spa in Cancun.  The well-planned wedding of Scheana Shay and Brock Davies took place on Tuesday, August 23rd.  They were accompanied by their 15-month-old daughter, and other family and friends, including various co-stars from the show who were there to share the special day with the couple.

According to reports Scheana and Brock were greeted upon arrival with bathrobes with custom embroideries of their names and champagne as they checked into the resort’s lavish presidential suite.  They then enjoyed a couple of special nights at the Cancun resort before the wedding day as well.  A romantic dinner for the two at El Patio, a spa day at Dreams Spa by Pevonia for Ms. Shay and her wedding party, and a poolside welcome party that took place Sunday night were all part of the pre-wedding festivities.

The Dreams Natura Resort & Spa features 12 different wedding venues, each unique in its own way.  The various venues range in size and price, depending on the experience, with the largest venue having the capacity to accommodate up to 300 guests.  An on-site wedding coordinator is there to help couples with all of the details to plan the perfect wedding.

According to the wedding manager at Dreams Natura, Claudia Rivero, for their wedding, Scheana Shay and Brock Davies chose one of the “most exclusive experiences” available.  This included a location overlooking the breathtaking Caribbean Sea, a glass platform over an infinity pool with a bridge for the bride to walk across to meet her groom, and an altar with an arch adorned with flowers.  Ms. Shay walked down the aisle to a specially mixed version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow “ that co-star and friend James Kennedy contributed to.

More than 300,000 destination weddings take place every year and the majority of them are in tropical locations like Cancun.  Often these weddings are smaller and are paid for by the bride and groom, rather than the father of the bride, which is typical of traditional weddings.  The reception is generally the most expensive part of having a destination wedding.

To get married in Cancun there are a number of requirements that must be meant for the wedding to take place.  These requirements include:

  • Each member of the couple has a valid passport.
  • A total of four witnesses are present, which can usually be provided for eloping couples.
  • Both members of the couple need to provide birth certificates.
  • Blood test results for each member of the couple prior to the ceremony.

For many people, a destination wedding is a dream come true and it can be more affordable than many couples realize.  As with anything it depends on how elaborate the event is and where the destination is.  With so many luxury resorts in Cancun, there are many options and many price ranges to choose from.

Vanderpump Rules stars Scheana Shay and Brock Davies made their dream come true in Cancun and shared it for all to see on Instagram.  They were surrounded by loved ones for a day they’ll never forget with the backdrop of the beautiful Caribbean Sea and the sun about to set on a lovely summer evening.  As stated by the new groom on his Instagram page, ‘this is what dreams are made of.”
