The wait is finally over for fans of one of the most iconic adults-only resorts in the Mexican Caribbean. After completely shutting its doors back in April 2025 to undergo a massive, top-to-bottom transformation, Hyatt Zilara Cancun is officially gearing up for its grand reopening on May 1, 2026.

For the past year, this prime piece of real estate right in the heart of the Hotel Zone has been a heavy construction site. Now, the resort’s official website is fully live with booking availability, and they have finally released the very first photos of the newly designed suites. The change is absolutely breathtaking. This is not just a fresh coat of paint; they took the property down to the studs to rebuild a true 5-star luxury experience that fits perfectly with Cancun’s rapidly growing upscale market.
A Total Shift In Luxury
Hyatt Zilara has always had the advantage of sitting on what many consider the absolute best, widest stretch of sand in the entire Hotel Zone. You get the gorgeous turquoise water without having your view blocked by neighboring buildings, and you can walk right out the front doors straight into the middle of the city’s lively action. However, as the travel industry evolves, travelers are demanding far more space, enhanced privacy, and premium amenities.

To stay at the top of the pack and compete with the influx of new luxury brands, the resort completely reimagined its room categories from the ground up. They deliberately leaned into creating larger, more exclusive accommodations that feel like luxury apartments. The new design aesthetic is incredibly elevated, seamlessly blending modern coastal comfort with handcrafted furniture, warm natural tones, and sweeping ocean views that capture the beauty of the coast.
The Junior Suite Collection
Even the entry-level rooms at the new Zilara feel massive. Both the Junior Suite King and Junior Suite Double give you 653 square feet of living space to stretch out. These suites are built for relaxation, featuring private terraces equipped with double jetted tubs so you can soak while looking out over the property. Inside, the rooms come packed with everything you need, from Nespresso coffee makers and daily stocked minibars to individually-controlled air conditioning and ceiling fans right by your bed.
For those who want to wake up to the sight of the Caribbean Sea, the Ocean View and Ocean Front Junior Suites offer the exact same spacious layout but with completely unobstructed, jaw-dropping views of the water. You still get the double hot tub on the balcony, but with the added bonus of falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves.

Stepping Up To Premium Luxury
If you want to take your vacation to the next level, the resort has introduced some incredible upgraded categories. The Ocean Front Luxury Suite King expands your space to 758 square feet and includes premium bath amenities, plush bathrobes, and a minibar that is fully stocked with alcoholic beverages and snacks.
For pool lovers, the Ocean View Swim Up Suite King is a total game-changer. This plush, split-level suite spans a massive 848 square feet. It features a private terrace that gives you direct, immediate access to a semi-private pool, blending indoor comfort with outdoor sunshine perfectly.
The Pinnacle: Villas and Presidential Suites

The most exciting additions to the property are the top-tier suites, designed for travelers who want absolute privacy and the highest level of service, including dedicated butler service.
The Ocean Front Master Villa King is a stunning 1,160-square-foot, two-level retreat. It features a loft-style king bedroom that overlooks the living room below, creating an open, airy feel. The lower level has a dedicated dining space for up to four guests, plus floor-to-ceiling doors that open onto an expansive, furnished terrace with an outdoor living area and a hot tub.
Then there is the Presidential Suite, a 1,331-square-foot modern escape offering the resort’s most dramatic views. It includes a massive balcony, a living room with a TV, a guest full bathroom, and a secondary minibar.

Finally, the absolute crown jewel of the resort is the Grand Presidential Suite. At 1,932 square feet, this oceanfront masterpiece offers expansive indoor-outdoor living. It features a private service entrance, a full kitchen with an electric oven and convection cooktop, a dining room for eight, a stargazing telescope in the living room, and a dedicated cabana down by the pool area.
With the May 1st reopening just a day away, these incredible new suites are already booking up fast. If you want to experience the new standard of luxury in Cancun, the time to lock in your dates is right now.
Note: The photos have only been updated on the main Hyatt website at time of publishing. Booking.com and Expedia are still showing the room photos prior to renovation.
