Another live music experience has been announced at a Mexican Caribbean resort, with American rock band Phish hosting their fifth ‘Phish: Riviera Maya’ destination festival from February 24-27, 2022 at the Moon Palace resort in Cancun.

Other music experiences taking place in the region include Wilco’s Sky Blue Sky festival in January 2022 and Paradisus resort’s Ember Shores in December 2021. Securing high-profile events like these is great for the Mexican Caribbean, as it draws more visitors to these breathtaking destinations and resorts.

Appealing to music fans is, of course, lucrative and many bands and festival organizers have jumped on board to create destination music experiences. 2021 will see Warren Hill’s Cancun Jazz Festival, the Cancun Music Week, and Closer to The Sun rock festival, amongst others, take place in the Riviera Maya.

In the States, music lovers are more than willing to travel to see favorite bands, so creating a music experience in a destination like Cancun is perfect, as it means fans can combine their passion for live music with a vacation, making for a truly memorable few days.

Phish – the band and the experience

Phish fans are known to be a particularly dedicated bunch, and many have been following these New England rockers since they formed in the early 1980s.

Originally the brainchild of frontman Trey Anastasio, Phish combines a range of musical influences including folk, jazz, blues, prog-rock, and psychedelic rock to create their own unique sound.

Phish: Riviera Maya will see Phish performing on Moon Palace’s stunning beachfront stage. A show will take place on each of the four nights, starting with the welcome gig on Thursday, February 24, and closing with an early evening show on Sunday, February 27.

The concert venue, located in the Sunrise zone of Moon Palace, will cater to guests’ every need, with free food and drinks served by wait staff. The area will be filled with art installations and performers, making sure everyone is entertained.

Moon Palace Cancun resort

Moon Palace Cancun has played host to previous Phish: Riviera Maya events and returning attendees will know just how great the resort is.

The Sunrise, Nizuc and Golf Course hotel zones each offer a range of facilities, including dining and entertainment. And when it comes to accommodation, guests can choose from superior deluxe rooms right up to two-bedroom presidential suites. Rooms look out over the ocean or the attractive tropical gardens – or in the case of the Golf Course zone, over the 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course.

The Grand is the newest – and most sought-after – Moon Palace zone. Offering an exclusive range of facilities, with premium dining, nine swimming pools (5 with swim-up bars), a water park, luxe spa, and a speakeasy bar, guests opting for this sector will be spoiled during their stay.

Safety measures and caring for the environment

Safety and cleanliness will be a key concern for everyone attending the festival, and guests can rest assured that all World Health Organization and local authority safety regulations will be met and exceeded. In addition, over 250 safety measures will be in place as part of Palace Resort’s ‘Purely Palace’ initiative.
The Phish: Riviera Maya experience is being organized with partners CID presents and On Location, who are committed to environmental sustainability. During the event, all garbage will be sorted and kept away from landfill sites, and Moon Palace itself has been certified as a provider of low-carbon tourism services.

Packages

Tickets for Phish: Riviera Maya are available for returning attendees to purchase on Tuesday, June 8th, with remaining tickets going on general release from Wednesday, June 9th.

Package costs range from $1862.50 USD to $9,000 USD per person.
