The Cancun airport is set to be quite busy in the coming months. Particularly thanks to the fact that major US airlines are betting big on the destination. Frontier Airlines is opening more direct flights from the two main Houston airports, William P. Hobby and George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Cancun.

Another major US airline, Southwest, is going to be offering daily flights to Cancun from San Antonio starting in June. Meanwhile, Memphis Tennessee residents will also get a chance to head down to Mexican beaches as Vacation Express is getting ready to launch their flights to the Mexican Caribbean.

Finding A Flight To & From Houston With Frontier

Frontier Airlines management declared from Houston that they are betting big on 3 destinations that they hope to send many Houston residents towards. Las Vegas, Orlando, and of course Cancun are going to be their main focus for the summer 2022 season. Flights to Cancun from the Hobby airport are going to be taking place 3 times a week. From George Bush people can fly down to the Mexican Caribbean 4 times a week.

Frontier executives mentioned that the airline is currently undergoing a “rapid expansion” in their business dealings throughout the Caribbean. This opens the door for even more flights to Cancun to be scheduled in the near future. Perhaps with the Tulum airport on the horizon that would be a route that the company would be willing to explore.

Memphis Residents Are Going To Be “Forced” Into Longer Cancun Vacations

Memphis residents that use the Vacation Express route to Cancun may find that it’s a better deal to stay in Mexico for at least a week. The airline is only going to be operating flights on Saturdays and Sundays. Sundays will serve as the departure date, and Saturday nights will be reserved for return flights.

Essentially forcing people who book a round trip with them to have to adapt to their very limited schedule. The company is more of a travel agency, but they’ve rather recently taken to operating exclusive flights from US cities that typically don’t see many direct options to Caribbean beaches.

People in Memphis who want to head over to Cancun without the help of Vacation Express will not have to deal with a layover in Dallas, or Denver for the most part. Depending on whether they want to fly with Frontier, or American Airlines. Many of these trips take north of 10 hours to reach Cancun. With that in mind, it’s easy to see why Vacation Express is betting on the fact that people are going to be flocking to book their exclusive flights.

San Antonio Residents Love Their Cancun Vacations

Unlike Memphis residents, folks in San Antonio really don’t have much of an issue finding a flight to Cancun. Even in the still pandemic riddled 2021 summer season Southwest offered 5 flights per week to Cancun. As COVID restrictions are taking steps towards becoming extinct, Southwest is anticipating that more San Antonio residents are going to want to make their way to Cancun this summer. It’s set to start offering 7 flights a week to popular tourist destinations.

Southwest Airplane In Cancun

Southwest is actually not the only airline that flies direct to Cancun from San Antonio. Sun Country Airlines also offers multiple direct flights to Cancun per week. That goes to show just how many San Antonio residents are making their way to Cancun on a regular basis. Finding a flight from multiple US cities to Mexico’s most popular beach just became that much easier. Even for folks out in places like Memphis Tennessee where direct flights to the Caribbean are a rarity.
