There’s no shortage of luxury resorts in or around Cancun.
But as the various Mexican Caribbean vacation destinations like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Tulum, and Isla Mujeres keep growing in popularity, the need for more accommodations continues to grow too.
This is likely what led one hotel brand, Majestic Resorts, to the decision to build a new luxury resort on the gorgeous island of Isla Mujeres, which is only a short ferry ride from Cancun.

Majestic Resorts is a hotel company based out of Mallorca.
The company prides itself on offering luxury accommodations, fantastic amenities, and superior customer service.

The Majestic Isla Mujeres Resort
The Majestic resort to be built in Isla Mujeres is projected to be spread out over more than 100,000 square meters of beachfront land.
Plans for the luxury resort include a total of 600 rooms, 450 of which will be larger suites and 150 of which will be junior suites.
Currently, the resort plans are in the funding stage, so it’s unclear when the company will break ground in Isla Mujeres.

Majestic Resorts In The Mexican Caribbean
Right now, there is only one other Majestic resort in the Mexican Caribbean, in the exclusive area of Costa Mujeres.
The Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres is located less than an hour from Cancun International Airport and only about 30-40 minutes from the Cancun Hotel Zone.
The all-inclusive resort is highly rated by guests and offers fantastic amenities included with the all-inclusive service, including premium liquor and gourmet dining.

Majestic Resorts Beyond The Mexican Caribbean
Majestic’s current collection of resorts includes a total of only four properties, one located in Costa Mujeres in Cancun and three in the Dominican Republic.
All of the resorts in the Dominican Republic are located in Punta Cana and include the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana, the Majestic Elegance Punta Cana, and the Majestic Mirage Punta Cana.
The company has not announced which brand name they will attach to the Isla Mujeres resort.

The Island Of Isla Mujeres
Isla Mujeres is a tiny island just off of the coast of Cancun, measuring only half a mile wide and five miles long.
Although small, Isla Mujeres makes up for what it lacks in size with charm, beauty, and amenities.
It has some of the most stunning beaches in the area, a laid-back fishing village/beach town vibe, and a small village with authentic Mexican and seafood restaurants, small cantinas, and locals-run shops.

How To Get To Isla Mujeres
The closest airport to fly into to get to Isla Mujeres is Cancun Airport, which is only about an hour away.
Part of this trip will be by car from the airport to the ferry port, and ideally, you’ll want to book your ground transportation in advance to save money and for the added convenience.
Then, upon arriving at the ferry port, you’ll take a 15-minute ferry ride over to the island, which costs around $10-$12 each way.

The Future Majestic Isla Mujeres Resort
Although there is no set opening date for the Isla Mujeres Majestic resort, it’s estimated that it will open sometime in 2026.
No images of what it might look like have been released, but if current Majestic resorts are any indication, it should be a beautiful, luxurious property.
And it will be located in the amazing tropical paradise of Isla Mujeres.
