Playa del Carmen is growing fast! The city is working hard to reach a huge goal: having 50,000 hotel rooms. But these aren’t just any rooms.

They are focusing on luxury, which means fancy hotels for travelers who want the very best.

👮 A Huge Plan to Keep Everyone Safe

You can’t have a great vacation if you don’t feel safe. That’s why the city spent a record-breaking 1.2 billion pesos on security. That is more money spent on safety per person than anywhere else in Mexico!

The city now has 470 patrol cars and its very own helicopter to watch over the area.

They even have a high-tech command center with cameras all over the city. They want every traveler to know that Playa del Carmen is one of the safest places to visit. And so far, travelers agree!

🏨 The Giant New “Green” Resort

A massive new project just got the “green light” to start building.

It’s called the Riviera Maya Ecotourism Complex. This isn’t a normal hotel; it’s designed to work with nature instead of against it.

This project is huge! It covers about 180 acres of land. It will have two different hotels with a total of 429 rooms. It will also have a fancy beach club and its own shopping area. The best part? It’s being built to keep the jungle healthy and beautiful.

What Makes This Playa Del Carmen Hotel The 2nd Best on Earth?

🌉 Protecting the Jungle with a Bridge

One of the coolest parts of this new resort is how they are saving the trees. The property has mangroves, which are special trees that grow in the water and protect the coast.

To keep them safe, the builders are making a bridge that stays high above the ground. This lets people move around the resort without stepping on the plants or hurting the animals that live underneath. They are also building three high-tech water cleaning plants to make sure the ocean stays perfectly blue.

💰 Helping the Local Communities

When big hotels move in, the city wants to make sure the local people benefit too.

This new plan is about more than just fancy pools. It’s about bringing jobs and money to the original Mayan communities.

Famous hotel groups like Xcaret and St. Regis are already growing their businesses here. The city’s leaders want the “all-inclusive” style of travel to help local shops and families. Your next trip to the beach will help support the people who have lived there for generations!
