Waldorf Astoria Cancun, Cancun

First up is a hotel that is actually in Cancun and that is the Waldorf Astoria Cancun, which had previously appeared on the travel publications “2023 Hot List of best new hotels in the world.”

Cancun’s hotel zone has a reputation of being inundated with resorts left, right and center, and bafflingly still has room for more as planning permission suggests…

An absolute stand out is the Waldorf, which is well known for its top-quality service and amenities, as well as its gloriously designed interiors and decor, which incorporates creams and sand hues that fit with the location.

Here you are spoilt for choice really: infinity pools, acres of pristine coastline, luxury spa facilities, a plethora of bars and restaurants that are sure to meet the needs of every single guest, and countless lounge areas with sea facing views.

What’s more, the vibe is total peace – which can sometimes be hard to find in Cancun’s hotel zone.

With privacy and a feel of slowness, the Waldorf Astoria is certainly not going to disappoint.

Habitas Bacalar, Bacalar

Ok, slightly further from Cancun (a four-hour drive south), this enchantingly small and discreet hotel is going to make you feel like you are the only tourists who have discovered it.

Drastically different from somewhere like the Waldorf Astoria, Habitas Bacalar has a more community feel, hiring local vendors to host guest experiences like cacao-and-wine-tasting, as well as yoga lessons and swimming trips.

With a focus on all things wellness, the hotel is host to programs that source local ingredients for their spa services and restaurants, which is perfect for the sustainable-conscious traveler.

The hotel has a grand total of 34 rooms and will give you the off-the-beaten-path, totally unique experience that so many strive to find when vacationing.

Chable Maroma, Riveria Maya

The wellness theme continues with the Chable Maroma taking it to the next level with their stylish and intelligent approach to all things health.

Picture this: 70 suites that are all neutral tones and colors, each with their own pool, terrace and outdoor rain shower, sitting on the doorstep of the incredible beaches of the Riviera Maya.

While wellness can mean fitness classes and spa sessions, this hotel also wants wellness on vacation to mean relaxing by the infinity pool, sipping margaritas, and ordering top-quality-sourced food whenever you are feeling peckish.

The Chable Maroma manages to marry the feeling of a bigger-scale resort with the intimacy and privacy of a more boutique stay, and that is why it is proving to be so very popular.

Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya, Tulum

Last up on the list is the Conrad Tulum, Hilton’s first luxury hotel in the area.

You know those kind of resorts where you literally have everything you could ever need or want, therefore it almost seems redundant to leave?

This is one of those places.

With a whopping 349 rooms, acres of pools, and scores of restaurants, you are certainly not going to be stuck for choice.

Whether you want to visit the cenote-inspired spa or the art installations honoring Mayan culture in the lobby, you will get a feel for the identity of the hotel and where you are located fairly quickly before you grab another margarita and bask in the glorious Mexican Sun.
