Playa del Carmen is kind of like a smaller Cancun, with many of the same things to offer but on a little bit smaller scale.
It doesn’t get quite the crowds Cancun does, so it’s a little more laid back.
Along with its beaches, it’s also known for its famous Fifth Avenue, which is lined with shops, restaurants, bars, and clubs.
Also, Cozumel is only a short ferry ride away so it’s another place where you can vacation in two different places at once if you want to.

The new Tulum Airport also has decent connectivity, with direct flights from 9 U.S. airports, and Cozumel even has its own airport, with direct flights from 8 U.S. airports.
