These Are The 6 Most Popular Beaches In Cancun Right Now

Last Updated

It’s no secret that one of the main reasons travelers can’t get enough of Cancun is its collection of stunning beaches.

Spanning 25 kilometers, Cancun’s Hotel Zone boasts numerous postcard-worthy coastlines that attract thousands of visitors every year.

Yet, within this multitude of beautiful beaches, a select few truly stand out.

Regardless of whether it’s high or low season, these breathtaking shores consistently charm both local and international visitors with their white sands and mesmerizing turquoise waters.

So, let’s take a closer look at the most beloved beaches this Mexican Caribbean gem has to offer.

Playa Gaviota Azul

This beach’s name, which translates to ‘blue seagull,’ might sound like the result of one of these overconfident birds taking a bigger-than-expected bite at your sandwich.

Yet Playa Gaviota Azul, located right in the middle of the Hotel Zone, stands out as one of Cancun’s most gorgeous beaches.

The waves at this beach can get pretty large, which can make a swim challenging for inexperienced swimmers.

However, there’s a blessing in every curse: thanks to the area’s large waves, sargassum presence here tends to be lower than at other beaches.

Playa Tortugas

Featuring tranquil, crystal-clear waters, this bustling beach is perfect for families with kids.

Beyond its beauty, Playa Tortuga’s privileged location offers easy access to restaurants, bars and convenience stores.

There are plenty of exciting activities nearby, from snorkeling to bungee jumping. Plus, you can catch a ferry to the stunning Isla Mujeres right from the dock.

Playa Caracol

Known as Cancun’s Instagram hotspot, Playa Caracol offers visitors a serene atmosphere and a lookout point with killer views.

While the water here is deeper than in some other spots, it’s usually nice and calm – perfect for swimming, snorkeling and discovering the area’s abundant marine life.

And the best part? It’s not as crowded as some of the other famous beaches.

Playa Langosta

Located between the 2nd and 5th kilometers of Kukulcan Boulevard in the Hotel Zone, Playa Langosta is known for its shallow waters that feel like a massive swimming pool.

The waters at this beach are sо calm that it’s safe even for little kids who can’t swim yet.

But that doesn’t mean this beach іs only for the little ones – adults can have their fair share оf fun too.

You can paddle out оn a kayak, embark on an exciting dolphin-swimming tour, and іf you’re іn the mood for some beach games; there’s volleyball too.

Playa Chac Mool

One of the best things about Cancun’s beaches is that, regardless of the high number of visitors, they seldom feel crowded.

Massively popular with both locals and visitors alike, Chac Mool is one of the prime examples, thanks to its huge stretch of shoreline.

Its powerful waves make it a favorite for surfers and adventurous swimmers,. But even if you’re just here to relax, it’s a fantastic spot, with multiple snack vendors and nearby convenience stores to keep your cravings in check.

Playa Delfines

No list of Cancun’s top beaches would be complete without mentioning the iconic Delfines Beach.

This beach is not only regarded as the unofficial ‘main beach’ in Cancun, but it also boasts a reputation as one of the world’s finest.

In addition to recently becoming a natural protected area, this stunning beach is also one of Cancun’s Blue Flag-certified beaches and earned 9th place in this year’s TripAdvisor’s ‘Best Beaches’ awards.

And rest assured, this beach lives up to the hype.

Playa Delfines Cancun

Playa Delfines offers visitors plenty of space to relax, and, much like Chac Mool beach, it boasts formidable waves, perfect for surfing.

This is where the famous Cancun letters are located – so snapping some pics here is a must.  And if you’re hungry, you’re in luck because there are tons of Mexican food stalls along the beach.

So, there you have it!

No matter whether you’re seeking relaxation, adventure, or simply a taste of local culture,  Cancun’s beaches have it all.
