Most travelers expect to pay higher prices when traveling to any popular vacation destination, but some destinations are more expensive than others.

Cancun recently landed on the list of the top 10 most expensive destinations in the world, but there are ways to make a Cancun vacation cost less.

One way is to avoid traveling to the destination during the busy seasons.

According to a new report, five months during the year are the most affordable to travel to Cancun.

The Most Affordable Months To Vacation In Cancun

A report recently released by the booking platform Turismo City highlights the most affordable months to visit Cancun.

These are during the two off-seasons that the Cancun has every year.

According to that report, the cheapest months to travel to the destination are April, May, August, September, and October.

Let’s go over why these months are more affordable and how significant the difference is.

Cheaper Flights And Hotels

In a destination like Cancun, everything is typically less expensive during the off-seasons, because there’s more availability.

Airlines are trying to fill seats, and hotels are trying to sell rooms during these slower periods so that their offers are more attractive to travelers.

Booking during these months can result in savings of hundreds of dollars, particularly when it comes to hotels.

How Big Is The Difference?

Hotel rates in Cancun vary significantly between the high and low seasons.

For example, the nightly rate for the highly-rated Wyndham Alltra Cancun All-Inclusive Resort for a weekend in August is as low as $284 a night.

To book that same room for a weekend in January, though, the nightly rate shoots up to $404 a night.

That’s a difference of $120 a night…

Now let’s look at the two main reasons you may or may not want to visit Cancun during these months.

The Weather

Weather is an important factor to consider when deciding on the best time to visit a beach vacation destination because you want it to be warm but not rainy.

Unfortunately, the two kind of go hand in hand.

In Cancun, the rainy season corresponds to the cheapest months to travel to the destination, but they are also the warmest months.

On the plus side, rain typically doesn’t last all day, and September is the rainiest month towards the end of that period.

You do have to consider the risk of hurricanes starting in June, but they’re rare in Cancun.

The Crowds

One of the best things about traveling to Cancun during the off-seasons is that there are smaller crowds.

Compared to the winter months and the six weeks of spring break, there are significantly fewer people visiting Cancun in April, May, August, September, and October.

If you prefer to visit when there are fewer people, these are the months to visit.

The Most Expensive Months To Travel To Cancun

The most expensive months to vacation in Cancun coincide with the busy seasons.

The busiest months are December, January, February, and March.

Hotel rates in Cancun during these months are significantly higher, partly due to the lower availability and higher demand.

Other Ways To Save On Your Cancun Vacation

Even during times when Cancun’s hotel rates are higher, you can often save money simply by shopping around.

Another way to save, at any time of year, is by booking an all-inclusive resort.

The rates may seem high, but the value is in having all of your food, beverages, entertainment, and activities included in the price.

This is why all-inclusives are such a popular choice for travelers vacationing in Cancun.
