These Are The Top 3 Mexican Caribbean Destinations Where Tourists Prefer Airbnbs

Last Updated

There are a lot of options for accommodations when visiting Mexican Caribbean vacation destinations.

Simple yet elegant hotels, luxury all-inclusives, unique hostels, charming boutique hotels, and spacious vacation rentals are all plentiful in places like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and other popular vacation destinations.

But vacation rentals, like Airbnbs for example, are more popular in some areas than others, and there are 3 Mexican Caribbean destinations where tourists prefer Airbnbs.

Why Tourists Love Airbnbs

There are plenty of good reasons for tourists to love Airbnbs, so it’s no surprise that they are so popular.

There are options with plenty of space for families and small groups, they provide the opportunity to prepare food or hire a private chef and have separate sleeping quarters, and they can be pretty affordable.

Overall, many tourists enjoy being able to feel like they have a home away from home while on their Mexican Caribbean vacation.

Cost Of Renting An Airbnb

Another thing tourists love about Airbnbs in places like Cozumel, Holbox, and Cancun is that they range from simple to extravagant.

They also range considerably in price, with both affordable options and more expensive, unique and luxurious rentals.

The cost of renting an Airbnb in the Mexican Caribbean ranges from about $15 a night to around $123 a night, according to information from the State Secretariat of Tourism, also known as Sedetur.

Booking An Airbnb Vs. A Hotel

Something to consider when booking an Airbnb versus a hotel for your Mexican Caribbean vacation is that there isn’t as much oversight.

If you book a hotel through the hotel itself or an online booking platform, it’s much harder to get scammed out of your money.

In the case of vacation rentals, though, scams range from offering a rental and taking the customers’ money and never responding to a customer booking a rental only to arrive and find that it doesn’t exist.

Why Choose A Hotel Instead Of An Airbnb

The minimal risk of being scammed when booking a hotel isn’t the only reason to opt for this long-trusted method of securing vacation lodging.

Hotels and resorts in the Mexican Caribbean have a lot to offer, particularly the all-inclusives, where you’ll have unlimited access to gourmet dining, premium beverages, and so much more.

With hotels, you’ll also have a team of hospitality workers dedicated to making your vacation enjoyable, something Airbnbs don’t have.

Hotels In The Mexican Caribbean

In the Mexican Caribbean, there is certainly no shortage of hotels that can be booked for your next vacation.

As of late 2022, there were approximately 1,300 hotels just in the state of Quintana Roo, with a total of 125,00 rooms distributed between them.

That’s a lot of options, which will allow you to choose the perfect hotel for your perfect Mexican Caribbean vacation.
