These Two High-End Luxury Riviera Maya Hotels Are Opening In 2023

The Riviera Maya region is no stranger to luxury hotels and resorts, as it is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, but there is no reason not to continue adding new options to meet the growing demand.  While the area has some pretty fabulous resorts already, the two high-end luxury hotels that will be opening in 2023 are about to step up the hospitality game in the region.  The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai is coming soon, although there is no set opening date yet, and the St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya, is slated to open in February 2023.

Small Riviera Maya Coastline

Both brands are known for providing a superior luxury experience for guests and will truly elevate the list of offerings in the Riviera Maya region.  Located in the Kanai resort community that currently only has plans for four luxury hotels within its 680 acres, the resorts will be about 30 minutes from Cancun and 10 minutes from downtown Playa del Carmen.  The community is located on more than a mile stretch of white sand beach, with a coral reef about half of a mile away that is part of one of the largest reef systems in the world.

Riviera Maya EDITION

The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai will have 180 rooms and suites, as well as a penthouse suite that is more than 2,200 square feet.  The property will feature a total of six dining and beverage establishments, one of which will be the property’s “signature restaurant,” in addition to a beach club and a pool bar.  There will also be a destination spa on the property and a huge outdoor deck that can be used for parties and special events.

St. Regis Kanai Resort

The St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya, will feature 124 rooms and 32 villas that will each have their own private pool.  On the property itself, guests will have access to three different pools, two of which will be adult-only, a whirlpool, and a spa that has eight individual treatment cabins.  There will be eight dining and beverage establishments, including one dedicated to Mexican chocolate prepared in creative ways.

The Kanai resort community is yet to be completed, with a planned finish time frame of sometime in 2025.  The gated community is surrounded by mangroves and jungle vegetation, and extreme care is taken to preserve the lush natural surroundings and the wildlife that calls it home.  The resorts located within the community are the perfect starting point for an eco-adventure like no other.

Cenote tour

Currently, there is only one other resort already completed in the community, the Etéreo Auberge Resorts Collection property.  The resort is a spa retreat that spans more than 11,000 square feet and features treatments inspired by ancient Mayan mysticism.  That property has 75 rooms, two pools, a gym, a boutique, a kid’s club, a yoga pavilion, a lawn specifically for events, and five restaurants.

Riviera Maya Beach

The fourth property that will be part of the Kanai resort complex has not yet been announced.  But based on current projects in the works, it will no doubt be just as luxurious as the one completed and the two on the way.  When all the properties are finished, visitors to the Riviera Maya region can expect a very different experience from the hustle and bustle of popular vacation destinations like Playa del Carmen and Cancun.

Riviera Maya Ruins

With close enough proximity to more visited destinations like Cancun, guests at the Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai and the St. Regis Kanai Resort, Riviera Maya can enjoy all the area has to offer while being tucked away in a secluded paradise.  As specific dates become available, we’ll share them with you so that you can start planning that truly relaxing, restorative, restful vacation you have always wanted in this quiet little community in the Riviera Maya region.
