Making The Top 10

According to the International Business Times, a magazine from the United States, Tulum has made the cut thanks to its incredible ancient Mayan history, its famous music events, and its stunning, out-of-this-world beaches.

One thing that the world is not in any short supply of is beautiful beaches, so making it into a top 10 list is a pretty big deal…

Tulum joins the list with beach destinations such as Whitehaven Beach in Australia, Long Beach in Canada, Maya Bay in Thailand, Camps Bay in Africa and Polihale Beach in Hawaii, with Anse Source D’Argent, Seychelles in Africa winning the top spot as the most beautiful beach in the world.

All eyes have been on Tulum since last year when it was nominated for the World Travel Awards as the best beach destination in the world and welcomed a new International Airport to bring even more tourists to its doorstep.

The beaches in Tulum that are accessible to the public are Santa Fe, Pescadores and Paraiso, as well as the beach located in the archeological zone, which sits just below a cliff, with ancient Maya Ruins looking down over it; a truly must-see location.

The Growing Popularity Of Tulum

It is worth noting that during the third week in February, which is not a peak time for the Mexican Caribbean, hotel occupancy in Tulum remained at 89 percent, which is certainly not the norm for major tourist hotspots at this time.

This could be due to the fact that it has become even more connected for tourists with the new Felipe Carillo International Airport, which began welcoming national flights in December of last year and will welcome international flights this March.

Popular heavyweight airlines such as Delta, American, and Spirit have announced their flight routes to Tulum and have already sold large numbers of seats ahead of spring break, which is set to be the next busiest season for the Mexican Caribbean.

No longer will tourists have to fly into Cancun Airport and organize a private hire transfer or ADO bus ticket, traveling upwards of two hours to reach Tulum; they can fly right into the destination and be in the hotel zone within twenty minutes.

The Maya Train is also expected to reach Tulum by the summer, though much later than originally planned.

Staying In Tulum

Tulum is also the third destination with the most active hotel rooms in the region, only below Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

Tulum has 230 hotels, which equate to about 11,000 rooms, meaning the options are endless for places to stay in this exciting, upcoming hotspot.

Though the destination was once known for being low-key and having more unique options to stay in, the area has seen a rise in luxury resort accommodations due to their ever-growing popularity in Mexico and…well…the world.

Tourists are willing to spend more money for the best-of-the-best experiences while on vacation, and Tulum is certainly taking the hint.

While resorts used to follow a cookie-cutter formula, they are now finding a unique approach, with offerings of gourmet restaurants and fine dining experiences, luxury spa amenities and treatments, infinity pools and private beach access, and so much more.

There are also options for vacation rentals in Tulum for tourists who want that unique experience without being surrounded by others and still feeling like they are at a home away from home.

You won’t be hard-pressed to go out and find those luxurious experiences in Tulum, which is recognized as a wellness hotspot of the world and has healthy eating spots, yoga classes, and breathtaking beach locations around every corner!
