Last Updated

Airport connectivity from the United States to Cancun is literally growing by the week it seems, with airlines adding new routes all the time.

One of those airlines is Frontier, which just added a new direct flight from Chicago Midway Airport just last week.

Now the U.S.-based low-cost airline just added another new nonstop flight to Cancun from another major city, Minneapolis.

New Nonstop Service From Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport

Frontier is now offering a nonstop flight to Cancun from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport on a daily basis.

The early morning flights to the destination last about five hours.

Flights on this new route will be available until early March, giving travelers from Minneapolis an option for escaping the cold winter months.

Sample Airfare Prices For The New Route

While ticket prices for this new route will undoubtedly be higher during the holidays, it will be quite affordable outside of that window.

Round-trip flights for early December start at around $190, and other than for the week of Christmas, don’t go much above $250.

Flights in this range can be found in both January and February as well, though for some days they get up to more than $600.

@missexclusive4 Replying to @littlemizznokia my @Frontierairlines experience was great! Not only did I save $500, but I also had a direct flight to #CancunMexico , the customer service, flight experience and seat worked well for me. I insured my trip and prepaid for a carry on, so I had priority boarding. I recommend it based on this experience.👏🏽👏🏽 #frontierairlines #internationalflights #cheaptravel #frontierairlinesreview #cancun2022 ♬ Cool Kids (our sped up version) – Echosmith

Cancun Airport Passenger Traffic

Last year Cancun Airport broke an air traffic arrival record, servicing more than 30 million passengers during the year.

This year, that number is very likely to be even higher.

It’s the destination’s popularity among Americans specifically that is leading airlines like Frontier to keep adding new routes to Cancun from the U.S.

Preparing For Your Arrival At One Of Mexico’s Busiest Airports

With all of the flights coming and going from Cancun International Airport just from the U.S. alone, the airport stays super busy pretty much all of the time, so it’s important to prepare for your arrival.

The best way to get through the airport and on your way is by pre-booking your ground transportation to get from the airport to your hotel.

You can expect to pay about $80 each way for private transportation, but it’s worth it to be able to just land and be on your way to getting your Cancun vacation underway.
