The weather is warm, the beaches are waiting, and the hotel occupancy is lighter than the winter peak holiday travel season. It sounds like an excellent time to head on down to Cancun.
January is a great time to visit the beach resort destination of Cancun in the Mexican Caribbean. Travelers can find plenty of rooms available, a more relaxed vibe, and maybe even a few good travel deals.
Tis The Season
January and early February are still peak season in Cancun, but a bit slower than the crazy winter holiday travel period and the upcoming spring break holiday travel season.
Travelers should enjoy the season while they can and reap the benefits from a January or early February vacation getaway to the Mexican Caribbean.
Great Weather
With an arctic blast gripping a big part of the United States, Cancun has the weather that most tourists are dreaming of but probably won’t see until June.
If travelers don’t mind a couple of spotty showers, looking at the Weather Channel forecast for the next few days puts the Cancun temperatures in the high 70s to mid-80s.
Evening temperatures are in the high 60s to the mid-70s. How does that compare with home?
It’s a great time to escape the cold at home and head on down to plant your feet in the sand with a drink in your hand in Cancun.
Plenty of Rooms Available
Many travelers are taking Cancun up on the warm weather offer. Recently, occupancy in Cancun was hovering around 80 percent.
That’s a good combination of plenty of visitors, but not too many, and rooms available for more travelers.
At the time of writing, many of the hotel rooms were priced in the $200 to $300 range, including some popular all-inclusive properties. Some popular chain hotels in the United States were even priced under $200 a night in January.
Many of the hotels in the famous Cancun tourist zone also had plenty of rooms available as there were plenty of different properties to choose from on the major travel search engine that was sampled.
The reasonably priced rooms reflected not only lower demand but also great values for January travelers. Be sure to double-check the room prices, as they are constantly changing based on demand from travelers.
Low to No Sargassum
The other great feature about visiting Cancun before the spring holiday crowd arrives is there is generally no sargassum to worry about on the beaches.
That pesky brown seaweed usually makes its presence known a little later in the season. So, for now, it won’t be in the way of travelers wanting to enjoy some wintertime fun in the sun, sand, and surf of Cancun.
What Travelers Need To Know
It might be a last-minute vacation getaway to Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean at this point, but the months of January and early February are simply some of the best times to visit the beach resort destination.
Lower occupancy and less demand for hotel rooms means travelers can get some good deals, including some of the all-inclusive resorts priced around $200 per night on major travel sites.
Visitors can also enjoy the warm weather that is an escape from the winter blues that now have much of the United States in its grips. Instead, travelers can enjoy weather many of them will have to wait until May of June to arrive.
It’s also a great time to enjoy the majestic white sand beaches of the Mexican Caribbean before the influx of sargassum flows from the waters onto the shore.
Beware, the spring holiday travel season is quickly approaching. To get the best deals, be sure to check out your favorite travel website immediately.
