The popular vacation destination bounced back from the pandemic faster than pretty much every other major vacation destination in the world, and now this year, the growth continues.

Much of the reason for Cancun’s growing popularity and resulting success story has to do with how government officials handled the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last Year’s Numbers
Last year was a record-breaking year for tourism in Cancun, and it wasn’t just one record that was broken.
While the airport started off the year averaging around 500 flights a day, by winter, the numbers were rising, and on December 3, 2022, the airport broke its all-time record with 660 flights.
And then, on December 17, 2022, the record was broken again with 719 flights.
The previous record of 559 dates back to 2018.
In the end, Cancun International Airport welcomed more than 30 million passengers last year, breaking yet another record.

Summer is typically a season where tourism slows down a bit, and while it still isn’t as busy as the winter months, it’s much busier than usual.
