Last year was by far one of the busiest years for tourism in Cancun on record.
The popular vacation destination bounced back from the pandemic faster than pretty much every other major vacation destination in the world, and now this year, the growth continues.
In fact, Cancun has seen a 35 percent increase in hotel reservations compared to last year and a 34 percent increase in flights.
This is why you should book your Cancun vacation as soon as possible this year:
Cancun’s Success Story
Much of the reason for Cancun’s growing popularity and resulting success story has to do with how government officials handled the Covid-19 pandemic.
By not closing its borders, Mexico gave restless Americans, particularly those working from home that could bring their work with them, a place to get away.
It is places like Cancun that became the destination for this new group of digital nomads.

Last Year’s Numbers
Last year was a record-breaking year for tourism in Cancun, and it wasn’t just one record that was broken.
While the airport started off the year averaging around 500 flights a day, by winter, the numbers were rising, and on December 3, 2022, the airport broke its all-time record with 660 flights.
And then, on December 17, 2022, the record was broken again with 719 flights.
The previous record of 559 dates back to 2018.
In the end, Cancun International Airport welcomed more than 30 million passengers last year, breaking yet another record.

Cancun has everything you could possibly want in a tropical vacation destination.
It has beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear aqua-blue water, which is the main draw for tourists.
But it also has a vibrant nightlife, exciting activities, great restaurants, luxurious all-inclusive resorts, and is surrounded by natural, historical, and cultural attractions.
There is something for everybody in Cancun.

Why You Should Book Early
After having such an amazing record-breaking year in 2022 and seeing even more growth this year, resorts in Cancun are going to fill up fast.
Summer is typically a season where tourism slows down a bit, and while it still isn’t as busy as the winter months, it’s much busier than usual.
One can only imagine what this winter will be like, so if you want your choice of hotels and any chance of finding affordable rates, booking early is a must.
Flights To Cancun
The number of flights booked to Cancun this year has increased too, but fortunately, there are a lot of options.
Additionally, airlines are already starting to announce winter flights to Cancun, some offering routes to the vacation destination for the first time.
Altogether, there are over 40 cities in the U.S. that offer direct flights to Cancun.
Cancun’s growth doesn’t look like it’s slowing down any time soon, as evidenced by its increasing hotel and flight reservations this year.
Then consider the fact hotels are being built in Cancun at an unprecedented rate, with more openings already set for this year and next year, and it’s hard to see anything changing in the near future.
As long as Cancun can continue to maintain security for tourists and keeps advancing forward, it looks like it will be a favorite vacation destination for a while.
Cancun’s All-Inclusive Resorts
Many of the tourists who visit Cancun book all-inclusive resorts, so they will likely fill up first.
All-inclusives are a great way to take the headache out of planning a vacation because you book it and don’t have to think about anything on your vacation.
An all-inclusive is truly the best way to relax in Cancun, but book early, or you might get left out in the cold this winter.
