Most resorts in Cancun’s hotel zone are located on the city’s stunning white-sand beaches, so you don’t need to leave your resort to access them. But there’s something extra special about visiting a dedicated beach club, where you can enjoy the beautiful playa from your own cabana, sipping on a cocktail and listening to a DJ play the hottest tunes.
Some of the most amazing beach clubs are just outside Cancun, so you can also take the opportunity to explore, seeing for yourself some of the many other hidden gems this little corner of Mexico has to offer.
Here are some of the best beach clubs you can visit in and around Cancun.
Mandala Beach Club, Cancun
Mandala Beach Club in Cancun’s Hotel Zone has a reputation as one of the best beach clubs in the region. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be made to feel special, with the attentive and personal service matching the beautiful surroundings.
The location of this beach club is second to none, right on Playa Lagarto, and just steps from Cancun’s entertainment district. You can choose to spend your day on a comfy lounger or enjoy a cabana while sampling delicious drinks and enjoying some of the many snacks on offer. Resident DJs keep the party going – and if you’re really enjoying yourself, there’s always the option of continuing your fun in the namesake superclub, Mandala Cancun!
Coco Bongo Beach Club, Cancun
You’ll have heard of Coco Bongo club – it’s the most famous in Cancun. But did you know they also have a beach club? Offering up a daytime version of the crazy party venue, Coco Bongo Beach Club is sure to appeal to those of you looking for the ultimate boozy day out.
There’s space to chill and tan here, but if you’re looking for something more in the way of entertainment, Coco Bongo Beach Club delivers, with impressive stunts and tech to wow visitors. And if you really want to push the boat out, there are private pools available for you and up to 9 of your friends.
Guru Beach Club by Lotus, Isla Mujeres
Guru Beach Club is in a prime location on Playa Norte – the best beach on the island of Isla Mujeres. It’s still relatively new but has already established itself as one of the best beach clubs on the Isla – and it’s certainly the most luxurious. Less of a party spot than some other choices, at this beach club, the emphasis is on relaxation. You’ll feel soothed by the world music played through the state-of-the-art sound system, as you gaze over the calm turquoise waters from your lounger.
Offering a great selection of fine-dining taster plates, cocktails, and an extensive wine menu, this beach club experience doesn’t come cheap – but then, as they say, you get what you pay for.
Zama Beach Club, Isla Mujeres
Another great daytime option on Isla Mujeres is Zama Beach Club, which is located halfway down the west coast of this small island – around a 10-minute cab ride from the Isla Mujeres ferry port. Touting itself as the first beach club on the island, this small but perfectly formed option has views to die for, and gourmet food to please even the pickiest of eaters.
Less expensive than Guru Beach Club, Zama doesn’t scrimp on service, which is noted by visitors as being excellent. You can watch the arrival of impressive yachts into the beach club’s dock, and there are also the ubiquitous sea swing and hammocks for all your Instagramming needs.
Unico Beach Club, Puerto Morelos
The furthest from Cancun, but worth the extra effort, is Unico Beach Club, which is in the pretty beach town of Puerto Morelos, around a 25-minute drive from Cancun airport. Serving up wonderfully fresh seafood and ceviche, alongside ice-cold beers, this might just be heaven on earth.
Right off the beach is the amazing Mesoamerican reef, and all around is beautiful vegetation gently swaying in the Caribbean breeze. What really makes Unico Beach Club stand out from the crowd is its regular program of events, including live music from local artists, as well as festivals and concerts.
