Two restaurants in Tulum were shut down by authorities after failing to follow health protocols for the prevention of Covid-19.
Federal and city officials were working together in an operation to identify tourism businesses in Tulum that were not following Covid-19 health protocols that have been set out by the State under the new ‘Orange’ light.
The ‘orange’ epidemiology light allows restaurants to operate but only at a 50% of capacity. All staff must follow hygiene and sanitation prevention methods including wearing a mask and proper hand washing.
Officials found that two restaurants, Esencia (Roc) and Gitano Tulum were not following health protocols and were shut down on Friday night.
Both restaurants were found to be over capacity allowed by the orange epidemiology (50%). Officials immediately closed the restaurants.
The Mayor of Tulum has been very vocal on businesses that threaten the safety of residents and tourists stating that they will be dealt with ‘a strong hand’.
