American Airlines To Operate Three New Nonstop Routes To Tulum In 2024

Tulum is one of the most popular destinations for American travelers in the Mexican Caribbean. The southern coastal hotspot boasts a unique mixture of tropical vibes, rich Mayan history, and authentic local culture.

The city has seen its popularity grow significantly in recent months as the Maya Train nears completion. Meanwhile, an altogether separate project, Tulum’s Felipe Carrillo International Airport, is expected to launch in just several weeks.

This week, American Airlines joined a growing list of airlines to announce new routes to the booming hotspot. The United State’s largest carrier will operate four daily flights across three routes to Tulum starting in March 2024.

The airline has stated that it will operate two daily nonstop flights from its Dallas/Fort Worth hub starting in March next year. American will also launch a daily nonstop connection to Tulum from Charlotte and Miami, two significant regional hubs for the carrier.

According to the airline, the new routes mean that travelers can now fly to Tulum from some 200 airports across the United States with just one stop, providing the coastal destination with a major boost in international connectivity.

American Airlines will operate the new routes using its extensive fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft, providing travelers a comfortable and safe travel experience.

With interest in Tulum soaring to new heights thanks to massive new infrastructure projects, a number of U.S.-based carriers have already announced new routes to the trendy destination. In addition to American Airlines, Spirit Airlines recently revealed that it would fly to Tulum from its Orlando and Fort Lauderdale hubs, and last month, Delta announced that it will launch a new Atlanta-Tulum route next year.

Tulum’s cutting-edge Felipe Carrillo International Airport is expected to officially open this December, paving the way for greater regional and global connectivity. The modern airport is designed to handle millions of travelers each year, and will make reaching Tulum a breeze.

Next year, travelers will have several options to reach Tulum. Visitors arriving in Cancun will benefit from the new Maya Train, which will significantly cut down on travel times. For now, travelers still have to rely on costly private transfers, which can set visitors back over $100 one-way.

Tulum continues to skyrocket in popularity thanks to its famous Mayan ruins and powdery white-sand beaches.

The city is currently gearing up to welcome a record number of travelers in 2023 as new infrastructure projects make it easier to reach the coastal destination.

Meanwhile, officials are investing in Tulum’s famous Archeological Zone to improve the visitor experience and enhance safety. Work is also well underway on a new Mayan culture museum in the Jaguar National Park.

As travel demand for the growing hotspot continues to grow steadily, more airlines are expected to announce new routes to Tulum in the coming months.
