While everyone is anticipating the completion of the Maya Train project, there are some amazing places to visit along the sections of the train that are already operating.
Travelers have already been enjoying the opportunity to visit places like Merida, Valladolid, and Chichen Itza since December.
Now, Cancun tourists will be able to take the new Maya Train to the mega-popular beach destination of Playa del Carmen in just one month too.
The Inauguration Of The Playa Del Carmen Maya Train Route
While it was supposed to be the rest of the Maya Train that would be inaugurated in February, only one out of the three remaining sections will be open by that February 29 date now.
That section is the one that runs from Cancun to Playa del Carmen.
After that date, tourists will be able to make the short journey by train to this amazing beach destination.

Playa Del Carmen’s Location
Playa del Carmen is only roughly an hour south of Cancun.
It may be even faster to get there on the Maya Train, as it travels at speeds of nearly 100 miles per hour.
The location of Playa del Carmen makes it the perfect destination to visit if you want to take a little break away from Cancun during your vacation.
