More Americans Interested In Relocating To Cancun

Last Updated

Americans are displaying a growing interest in relocating to Mexico’s beautiful tourist hotspots, Cancun and the Riviera Maya, as observed by Mexixo’a Real Estate Board.

The shift roots from Cancun’s relatively affordable costs accommodating foreigners with a comforting experience that doesn’t require an abundance of finances in comparison to other tourist destinations.

With an expat community that enables easy communication and navigation for Americans, a variety of fresh, nourishing foods at reasonable price points, and a sunny, desirable climate, it comes as no surprise as to why the population of the beautiful city continues to rise exponentially.

Cancun’s growth in real estate markets was outlined by an analysis of the data in rental services and sales year over year. The comparison demonstrated a 7% increase which indicated an expansion of consumers for the city’s real estate industry.

According to AMPI, (Asociación Mexicana de Profesionales Inmobiliarios) the demand for properties and residencies located in Cancun has increased, with Americans and Mexican citizens located in other parts of the country requesting the purchase of medium and high-end condominiums.

As for Americans, interest has been articulated by people located throughout states such as Texas, Kansas, Colorado and Nebraska, compelled by Cancun’s attractive and luxurious communities.

Meanwhile, interest within Mexico to Cancun and the Riviera Maya is most commonly being expressed by people from Sonora, Chihuahua, Nuevo León, Jalisco, and Mexico City.  However, people all throughout the country in general are reaching out in anticipation of forming contracts with AMPI.

Anticipating a successful year for real estate sectors due to the increase in demand, more real estate projects, ranging from small to medium size, have been resumed in an attempt to facilitate the increasing population of residents projected by Cancun.

Accordingly, Cancun is concentrating on infrastructure development in 2021 while launching residential units for new occupants. In effect, the city has been actively moving forward with the development of mixed condominium complexes.

Miguel Ángel Lemus Mateos, the current head of the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI)  made a statement regarding the relocation interest amongst Americans and how it stems from the idealized environment and community maintained in Cancun, Riviera Maya.

“Human displacement, which is restricted due to health issues, cannot be postponed. People are used to traveling and are now looking for spaces with a healthier environment, which is the case of Cancun, Tulum, and Riviera Maya where we are noticing great interest by people who are asking how they can change their residence to a place in the Mexican Caribbean.” Mateos stated.
